No, I don't mean that little thing that happened in DC, I mean the massive 3.3" of snow in Charleston, SC last night. Surely this is another sign of the apocalypse!

I live about 5-7 miles from the coast, so we never really got below freezing, but it sure looked nice. I got up early this morning to get some pictures before it all melted. I expect it to be gone by early afternoon. Hear are a few shots.

Well, how can I say this! The wind at over 35 MPH did the the entrance arbor in!!!! I now have to get to work replacing it along with shrubs and perennial plants that may have been killed by the wind chill.
Lane, the photo will become one that you won't let get away.

I hope that all that view the photos enjoy . I'll add photos showing the results of the snow and snow sublimation.

Well Heck! Aaron, That is a post card,, You need to post that one on your site, Got any of the Cabin snowed over?

I wish I was there to help ya with the arbor. I have done my share of landscaping also.

Last year the deer nearly knocked over our scuffadong grape vines.. I went all out with a new 3 inch square steel tube stock purgilla 12 ft high by 12 ft long Made from salvaged scrap. I dug 4 ft deep holes. and packed rock's in the holes. Painted them with Nassan chassey black

That stopped it!! and they look regal.. Or , aa real good :)

Rudoff's with your nose's so brite ,, Bet that will rattle your bones tonight. Thuoinggingginngg!

My Mom Is very pleased with the purgilla.. and she is a hard one to please....

We did get a good dusting Friday night,, It was nice And the roads were all clear coming home from work the next morning . It was almost all gone by late Saturday evening.
Barry,

I can't get down the driveway and I'm waiting for the sun to melt the ice. I've put a snow blade on my small tractor, but it won't get the ice that forms after removing the snow. Looks like I had better get out the calcium chloride and get to work! Linda and I are going to Greenville to see "Celtic Woman".

Thanks for volunteering to help. I plan on waiting until the weather gets warmer. I'm planning a new one but with 4 vertical posts.

Did you ever post the photos of our drive on the Dragoon? You and I are probably the only ones of the SOC that has driven the Dragoon in the snow.

We're curently having great weather up here! Minus single digits and low teens plus a bit more snow made for great powder skiing on Friday afternon...I was the only one out and the sun was shining. Weekend ditto except a lot more folks out and about on the snow covered ice. Set up my folding camp chair with beverage holder and suitable cold one so I could take a break once in a while and bask in the sunshine. Beer froze pretty quickly though....
GERD: QUITE SO MGM, SANDY EGGO IS A MIGHTY FINE PLACE, IF YOU CAN KEEP TOWARD THE COAST. MIGHTY EXPENSIVE TOO, BUT NOBODY DOUBTS IT HAS THE BEST WEATHER IN THE LOWER 48. MAYBE SOMEDAY I'LL MOVE IN, AND JOIN THE SPEEDY CRUISES YOU GUYS HAVE EVERY OTHER DAY.

BUT BACK EAST HERE WE HAVE THE CHANGE OF THE SEASONS, DON'T YOU KNOW?? SOMETIMES THINGS ARE GREEN, SOMETIMES BROWN AND SOMETIMES WHITE; OUT YOUR WAY THINGS ARE JUST BEAUTIFUL ALL YEAR ROUND. HOW DO YOU STAND IT?? BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, WE'LL BE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE 90-90 DAYS -- THAT WOULD BE TEMP + RH. ASK LANE ABOUT THAT, HE KNOWS. AND I CAN'T RECALL THE LAST TIME THE WHOLE PLACE WENT UP IN FIRE AND SMOKE, OR SLID DOWN THE STREET IN A RUSH OF MUD AND WATER.

SO, JUST DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT, AND DON'T THINK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE.
KELLY
U KEEP THAT COLD AND CHANGING COLORS.
I'M MORE THAN HAPPY TO DEAL WITH EARTHQUAKES.
FIRES AND FLOOD PEOPLE ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN THOSE WHO CHOSE TO LIVE IN THE COLD AND SNOW. U GUYS LIKE TO SHOVEL SNOW AND THEY LIKE TO FILL SAND BAGS.
IM SORRY I JUST DONT GET IT

VINCE LETS GO FOR A CRUISE
Lane, those are great pictures! I showed Teresa the palms with snow on them.
I'm guessing she didn't see anything like that when she went to school there.
Has it melted yet?
By they way, I was dreading going back to the new house, since I hadn't been there to shovel since the second storm, and one of our new neighbors had shoveled it already!
I owe that guy some Anchor Steam!
You're right Gordon...that would be kite skiing, no mountains here.

I don't know why all the complaining about snow...I welcome it every year. Before I'd welcome it so I could go dog sledding when I had my sled dogs. Now I welcome it to go kite skiing.

And another plus that you guys fail to mention...if you set your beers in snow it keeps them cold without refridgeration. Not to mention white wine.

Here's a couple of pics of our annual kiting wrap up BBQ on Mother's Day 2008. An absolutely beautiful warm day where we kited out to a an island dragging sleds behind us filled with beer, wine, BBQs, food and other family members.
