It's up in the mountains!

There are FABULOUS Speedstah roads all over the place!

They RACE on the back roads around the Glen!

Waaaayyyy cooler than Laguna Seca...

I'm jus' sayin'.....

How often do you get a chance to BE there?? With all of that racing history??

If it wasn't for Watkins Glen, I would likely have lived a very different life. I grew up about 30 miles from there. Saw them race down mainstreet in the 50s. Saw the first ever US F1 Grand Prix. I devoured Formula Libre (forerunner of the CanAm series). Saw my first speedsters race there (Bob Holbert). To say I was inspired is an understatement!

And it's only 3000 miles from where I live now.

Having Porsche as the featured marque in 2006 certainly made the 750 mile drive worthwhile. Morgan is a car that I have always fancied, but I don't know. It's still a looooong way to go. I don't know what my September calendar looks like yet. I'd like to do it but will probably have to pass.

For those of you who don't remember this event and our posts thereon, in all of those Speedster/356 photos, Pearl and John's "Redman" were the only two replicas in the photos - all the rest were the magnetic kind......

They asked for VIN #'s when we registered, so I just gave them my VW VIN - nobody ever said a thing.....

This was a truly GREAT weekend!
