Will someone please tell me a little about an insignia on the side of some 356 Speedsters? It looks like a Pegasus or something. It is seen in this James Dean photo. It looks similar to the horse on the Porsche logo but this one has wings. What does it mean? What is the history? Why is it on some Speedsters?

Sorry for all the questions and posts folks, just trying to learn about these great cars.
