Well I guess I thought most of you read Kit Car magazine and that you would have recognized the John Deere quote from the article about the Thunder Ranch Speedsters. Tom is quoted as saying that the flared body Speedsters have the "John Deere Look." I don't really know what he meant by that, but it doesn't really matter and my posting was really tongue in cheek. As I said in another posting, we all have our likes and dislikes and he has a stunningly beautiful car.

Troy,
There are some who believe that the look of the classic speedster is poetry in motion: the form has been argued to be the best ever designed. To them, the addition of the flares interrupts those classic lines; they're not for everyone.
I believe what was meant by the statement is that the addition of the flares suggests the silhouette of a tractor.
I don't own a fat boy, but I appreciate the looks as well as the improved handling that is achieved by the ability to have a wider stance. But I do fall into the category that prefers the original lines.
Now, I would hope that this topic doesn't suggest the argument of which is better. It kinda brings out the worst in us here, although it does bring out the best in Vince and Gerd...
Actually, I suspect that Tom was refering to the big rear-end. A tractor has (traditional tractor) - big, wide rear tires and a big wide rear end. It all goes together and looks "right" - but is definately big and gives the impression of POWER!

So I'd take it as a compliment if someone said that a wide bodies speedster had a "John Deere" look about it.

Ok, let me be perfectly clear here, I have absolutely zero intent of starting a "which is better argument," that argument can be reserved for the real vs. fake topic ;-). I was really just poking a little fun at Tom's comment, which I really don't get it, but I'm 100% sure he meant no disrespect at all.
If what Terry said is correct "silhouette of a tractor" I just don't see it. If anything, I've often thought that the widebodies have a sort of steamroller look and maybe that would be a better analogy.
The "best in Vince and Gerd?" Isn't that an oxymoron???

WIDE BODIES FOREVER BITCHES.....................There Troy, some support!

The classic 356 looks just like it's nickname...a bathtub (upside down, obviously)...there are no true styling ques at all...just slab-sided and boring....looks like a table cloth draped over a Hippo!

That being said....you know the ole' stand-by "OPINIONS ARE LIKE A-HOLES........"

Thank God that we all have varied tastes and are not afraid to express them.
