We finished this build a little over a month ago and I am just getting around to posting about it. We have been using the Subaru engines for some time now, but this is the first one of our Subaru builds with a factory Subaru ECU and factory OBD-II port.

This build features a DBW throttle, OBD-II port (all the stock Subaru diagnostics are unaffected and can be scanned by the Subaru dealer or a good independent shop), check engine light, pre and post Cat o2 sensors, and all of the factory Subaru emissions and engine controls are left in place. The only change to the motor itself is a cold air intake in place of the airbox. The performance of the car was spectacular and the additional convenience of a factory mapped engine for AC use, cold start, climate changes, etc... just can't be matched...

Here is a shot of our fully dressed up version, still no plastic covers. :)

Radiator is custom made by Griffin, to my specifications, and is hung at an angle in the nose with dual fans.

@Ron, I have not finished one with the Suby box yet, although I have one here that I was building for myself. As with most of the projects that are for ME, they hit the back burner when the shop is busy...

Giday, Lane and Rich. No sweat on the timing, Lane..it'll be on the road before Christmas. The change to Soob seems logical to me, Rich. I'm more familiar with them than the aircooled variety anyway having put one in an airplane about 15 years ago. The extra 50 hp will be nice too. Not being familiar with computerized FI and not willing to go through a painful learning curve, I've opted to go with a carb on this one. I have a second engine on the floor which may get different treatment down the road. The ignition is Ford EDIS based with solid state Megajolt Lite Jr. advance components. I should point out that on Jack Crosby's recommend I got in contact with Jake Raby who is persuing a Soob program right now. He put together a very thorough proposal to build up and install an EJ25 into my car. The timing wouldn't work for me and really, it would be putting a world class engine in my daily driver and triple my investment in the car. Where would it lead to ? Chassis and suspension work, upgrade on the brakes and I could still only run 5" wide tires. I'll start a "how I did it thread" on another channel when I'm a little further along if anyone is interested.
