Thought I would start a secondary caravan thread to see if we can drum up a few more intrepid travelers to Carlisle this year.

I will be trailering again this year, so I will also be bringing along way more tools than anyone could possibly need (just ask Henry Reisner), as well as some well-chosen supplies, just in case anyone needs something to keep them going (although I've never had to help anyone other than draining a gas tank after an inadvertent diesel fill).

Also, having the trailer makes it easy to get a disabled car loaded (it has a winch - all I do is push a button) and taken to where-ever it needs to get to for repairs (or even back home).

So, that being said, we currently have the following people joining the Northeast Caravan:

The Nichols' - Grafton, MA
The Gallos - Cape Cod, Ma.
Carl Berry - Bethel, CT
Peter Venuti - Beverly, MA

The route is as follows:

Leaving Thursday, May 16'th

Peter will be making his way to the Mass. Turnpike and we'll meet him either at exit 11 (Millbury) or at the rest area after Auburn, just before the I-84 exit, around 7:30am.

Taking I-84 to West Hartford, CT, to meet the Gallos at a Dunkies TBD near West Hartford (somewhere near the RT10 (Queen Street) exit) around 9am.

Continuing on I-84 to Danbury,CT to pick up Carl Berry (and maybe Juan Gonzales) from Bethel, CT around 10:30-ish am.

Continuing on I-84 to connect with I-81 South and following that all the way to Mechanicsburg, arriving Mechanicsburg, PA around 3:30-4pm.

We'll be stopping for lunch somewhere along the way TBD.

Don't yet know gas stops - I'll figure that out sometime this week, based on 25 mpg on a Speedster and suggest them.

I'll also be emailing the more active (or lurking, as the case may be) New England Speedster/Roadster/Cabriolet folks to see if anyone else is interested.

If anyone has a "Family Radio Service" (FRS) walkie-talkie, please bring it along. I will have two with me and we'll have one in the first and last cars to keep all of the cats herded in the right direction but more would be welcome.

So that's the start - Anyone else want to join us?

Looks like I could join you around 11:15 or 11:30 right off of I-84 between NY exit 5 and 4. There is a rest area between those two exits. Or right around exit 5 if anyone needs fuel. Lenny could pick you guys up just after Hartford, nearer to Waterbury. That sounds really good, Gordon. It will be nice to travel with more than just two of us.
Well, I am more of a Hess guy than an Exxon/Mobil one, but whatever the group wants is fine. Hess is South of the exit, Mobil North, both bracket I-84. Hess is larger with a bigger turnaround/meeting area than the Mobil also. Both have restrooms and coffee. Dunkies is a couple of stores North of Mobil. Just down the road from the Hess about a half mile(Bracken Rd) is a Truckstop of America for anyone needing diesel(Gordon?).

Whatever the group wants for lunch is fine, I don't care. Lenny and I usually hit someplace in PA though, but the group rules.
It's been pointed out to me that the Thursday in May that we're leaving is the 17'th, not the 16'th. Always a day late and a dollar short...

I'm not fussy about gas stops - whatever brand everyone wants. I won't need fuel until Mechanicsburg, but I'll get diesel in Hazelton for convenience. I'll find a place before we leave. Dunkies is optional for me, too - I live on Mountain Dew when I'm traveling, but others might need their coffee kicker so we can do that, too.

I won't divulge who got the diesel - his passenger did the filling as a favor to the driver, realized it and we fixed the situation, all within 30 minutes. All good.
Gordon, we're not too fussy about food or fuel while traveling, and we usually bring snacks and drinks for the ride anyway. Anything that works for everyone else is fine with us. My big truck has a small gas tank and towing will only give me about a 300 mile range , give or take. Sounds like you're getting this finely tuned. Kind of a low speed "Gumball Rally" thing. Thanks
Just in case you guys have more problems and need an additional trailer, we are trailering the Spyder up and can off load it and come get anyone that might have run into trouble. Danny has my cell phone number. I doubt you will have any issues but we are available if needed!

Darcie
Nope, got that covered, but thanks so much for the offer, Darcie!

Anyone needs the trailer along the way, I just off-load Pearl and load them on (winch 'em on if I have to) and continue on while they drive Pearl.

THAT's one of the reasons I trailer to Carlisle every year! (and having space in the truck for 1/4 of my workshop tools and a floor jack, too!)

Besides - I can fit more beer into the truck than the Speedster!

Folks! Heard from Boston Bob Elliot this morning that he's coming down on Friday and will catch up with us at the Friday dinner.
