Well after changing my mind a few times hours before the paint was shot, I went with an ivory cream colour.........These are old pics as all of the trim is already back on as well as the bumpers.

Holy crap it's a nice colour, the car has a few issues that must be sorted out paint wise, but for about $200.00 who can complain.

thanks for the kudos guys. I'm so in love with this colour it's just not funny. I have some more pictures to post with the car almost totally assembled, but I'm on the blackberry at the moment, so I'll leave it for later.

Yup, the car cost me about $200 to spray, in fairness of it all, my mate did majority of the prep work himself and this saved me a heap of money. Even by local standards this is chea. I got it done by mates rates through my buddy, and he actually didn't knock off too much.

The paint is 2 stage Spies & Hecker L505 which is pretty much the same as porsche 505 Ivory, so good spotting on the paint there. Rates in South Africa are a lOT cheaper than overseas.

I have a few ideas on the interior, but I haven't touched that one yet. I have stock speedy seats, but I'm thinking that I want something else to give it a more classic look. More lounge looking than hotrod replica speedy seats.

What did porsche use with the ivory exterior?

Type, we have a 2.0 type 4 motor planned. That is still on the go and at the moment, I'm still waiting on my rings and cam followers, before the sub assembly can be assembled. This motor is going to look great once it's done and should be well punchy. STay tuned and I'll update this tomorrow with more pics of the newly polised tim and badges.

I know for a fact that for Speedsters for the Ivory exterior Porsche used black or red interior and always a black top. I ordered my VS with Ivory exterior since I think it definitely looks classy but following my tastes I ordered light brown interior without knowing it wasn't correct although I think it looks great too.

Gary, I'd say you could EASILY get away with a saddle-brown interior and a tan top. Ricardo, who's known for his great taste anyway, wouldn't steer you wrong. You'll need a wooden steering wheel and shift knob ...
It's not what the factory would have done, but it'll sure look gorgeous.
Jack Crosby's car is another great example. So is Tom DeWalt's Speedster.
Thanks for the vote of confidence brother Cory! Actually the red cars with tan interiors look great too. In my case I chose a black top because it'll hide accumulated dirt (and it will accumulate it over time no matter how much you clean it) the best. Little did I know it was the correct factory color combo.
Thanks guys

Ricardo, I like what you've done, that's what I'm thinking of doing. I have an almost new black top that's on the car at the moment anyway and I don't want to have to take it off just to put a brown/ tan top on.

I may have to go the wooden wheel/ shifter route as I bought some new goodies from the US a while back and found out that the cream shift knob disapears in the interior of ivory.

I have about another month or so to decide on the interior as the engine needs attention first, but one thing is for certain, I'm really thinking of doing away with the speedy seats.

I should have it back in the next few days after the adjusters are welded in on the front beam. I'm still waiting on my dash cap as well as a rellocation of the battery to the front, but it's getting there.
