Well, this is our inaugural post! Many of you have probably already heard...we will be the new owners of Vince's awesome car! Blake has wanted a Speedster for a while now and he just couldn't convince me that I want one too. Then he took me to see the cars on Saturday and by the end of the day I was hooked! Dale you are one hell of a salesman! So, thank you to Dale, Terry, everyone whose names I missed, and most importantly, THANK YOU to Vince and Teri!

We're looking forward to rides in car and hangin' out with all you yahoos!

Congratulations. I had hoped to see you before we left Saturday for 100 plus miles of zooming on the back roads around your area. Terry and I really enjoyed meeting you two and hope to see you next year. You two have a great time and check the registry for some folks near you.

Blake and Jen, welcome!
Really a pleasure to meet you. I'm glad you were able to "persuade" Uncle Vince to part with Mr356. Beautiful car. You guys are going to look HOT driving around Paso.
Looking forward to seeing you next year and posting frequently on this site.
Dale, do those Eskimos need any more ice? Global warming is coming.;)
Congratulations, Blake and Jen!
I'd say you have big shoes to fill, but you know what they say about men with little cars ...
Tough act to follow, that guy. You folks will have to dress the car up in pretty little flowers and take it to parades and such, and maybe hire a PR consulting firm to clean up its image as the punk kid on the West Coast.

No more roping bodies to the luggage rack for desert disposal and such. No more Vietnamese laundress stories ...
Vince ... my man ... I hadda dig into the archives for this tribute:

"I would be honored to be the "first" SOC member to be ignored....
Now if I could just think of something obnoxious (sp) to say...
I'll get back to you guys...........keep reading the forum.."

... Just to say you and that Ghia had better stick around. I know it's out of context and the irritants have left the building, but dang, dude! Who's gonna provide the well-tempered, evil humor now?
And who the hell is going to put GERD to bed?

On a related, unrelated note, I do find it somewhat ironic that you and TC both have Ghias. I'm not sayin' ... I'm just sayin' ...

Cory, like I said before, I'm not going anywhere, you guys are stuck with me....I'm the ugly duckling....I kinda like that moniker....

Ghia was delivered today...will be on the next cruise, probably Lake Arrowhead or maybe a wine run to the Solvang area.....needs tires and a pair of carbs...

I will say that I am glad MR356 is staying in the Area and I an also happy for the new young owners, I hope they have as much fun as Teri and I have had the last 5 years with it.....

Saturday night when Blake came by and said he wanted the car, Teri cried for about an hour.........frigging cry baby....
Blake and Jen...I want to welcome you to the SOC madness....you will have a blast with your new toy and you will also have lots of fun with us all in here. Angela, Jennifer and myself are the only girls here so maybe Jen might want to join us...we need more girl power here..LOL
A word of caution...try not to pay to much attention to certain people in here( you all know who you are) just kidding guys :) Have fun and drive safely.

I received a call this morning from one of the other couple's who saw MR356 at Paso. The guy says his wife has been bugging him to buy my car...I told him it was sold, and he tried to offer me an additional grand to sell it to him....When I said NO, he said, "at least I tried"....
Blake & Jen, MR356 is yours... and is now being detailed..
See you Saturday, late morning.........
Vicki,
The first IM speedster were made in 1976. The 1970 must come for the year of the VW pan used in the construction of the car.

To determine an approximate value you will need to look at other speedsters that are in similar condition. And then, because it is an Intermeccancia, add 5000 dollars.

Just kidding about the 5000 dollars.

You do need to look at other cars in similar condition with similar engines. Posting several interior and exterior pictures will help and finding someone in your area to look at the car will help too.
Cool...Our new car is in demand! Vince, we knew you were stand up guy, no matter what anybody else said.
We're getting so excited that we already ordered new plates. Nothing falshy, just to the point. VNTG356. What else do we need to say?
Now, about keeping Vince off the pole...we will do our best, but I have a feeling that could be a difficult job. He will be here for a good 30 minutes or so.
We are the proud new owners of a Speedster! MR356 is now 356VNTG. Thanks Vince and Teri!
We had a great time cruising the car today, made a few stops. At one winery a woman even asked to us to wait as we were leaving so her husband could see our car! Cool and weird...
Unfortunately, we did encounter one problem. Right after we picked her up we came home to drop off our other car. Blake went to put the e-brake on and the cable snapped. We don't have a mechanic yet, so is it easy to replace the cable? Has anyone done this before, and can lend some tips on what to do and what NOT to do?

Blake and Jen,congratulation on your new purchase!!!
I suggest you buy the "Bug me video" series (comes on DVD too). It shows you step by step how to work on the engine, brakes, transmissions etc. BTW it will show you how to replace the e-brake too. www.bugmevideo.com I DO have 5 different dvd's and I can tell you for sure they are very helpfull.

Good luck,and enjoy!!!
