When is the carlisle event?
May 15-17. You're close enough that you really should come if at all possible. You WILL enjoy it.
Southeast caravan info moved to new thread
Lane--I expect my wife, Alice will make the drive with me. We are all set to meet Hoss in K-ville and drive to C-burg with him.
I am hoping my son, Russ will also join us in his restored 914 byt won't know until closer to the trip. I'd say 30% chance.
We are all set on reservations.
What we SHOULD be doing is organizing a caravan to Morrow Bay!!! I'm doing that next year. Maybe do an engine swap when I'm on the West Coast.---Jack

David, you can do the Northeast caravan with Lenny-c and I, we will each be dragging(flat-towing) one Vintage Spyder each! We are leaving on Thursday, let us know.
See what I mean, David? You WILL have a good time.
I have never attended Carlisle, but I would like to this year as it seems like a hoot.
That's putting it mildly. I first came in '05 and didn't know anyone, and yet I still had a blast. Been back every year since. It's heaven for a gear-head, and the people are great. Join us!
Hello, all!!
Hotel Carlisle Update!!
Due to the overwhelming response of attendees at the 2009 Carlisle Kit Car Show, we have sold out our block of reserved rooms at the Hotel Carlisle (We had 45 rooms set aside).
But don't despair!!!
They have plenty of other rooms available and are putting up folks from the Speedster Owners Group in a closely adjacent building (they actually have several buildings of rooms on property, so this is definitely NOT a problem.)
If you haven't yet made your room reservations, I would strongly recommend that you do so very soon. Please continue to tell them that you are part of the Speedster Owners Group, but your room rate may vary depending on amenities (#/size of beds and so forth).
Remember, also for you people trailering or need a place to park your airplane, there is LOTS of primo trailer parking space at the rear of the Hotel. Pull-through spaces and all!

I thought I read somewhere that a SOC member was coming from Parkersburg, WV. Are there any others from that area traveling to Carlisle? Andy and I will be leaving Thursday before noon from Carrollton,OH and will be traveling through Pittsburgh, hopefully before or about noon. Once on the Pike, stopping only for petrol. Is there no caravan from the heart of the Rustbelt?
Tom B. is from Parkersburg VW. I believe he runs Rt.50E to Rt.79N, to Morgantown onto Rt.68E to Rt.70E to Rt.81N to Carlsile ~Alan
YEEEEHAAAHHHH!!!!!
One week from tomorrow and we hit the road. Gee, can you tell I'm getting psyched?

TIET! Ten day forecast on Carlisle website predicts Showers on the 14th, Hoss, get started on your anti-rain dance. I'm trying to recruit a flock of snow birds to help take some sunshine up there!

I thecond your "TIET!" It looks like it could be a wet ride up there. Get busy dancin', John!
No worries guys. I just finished installing my new top so we'll be fine. Now if all I had was the tonneau it'd rain all three days.
Mickey--are you sayin' that there is some difference in staying dry in a Speedster with a top rather than just a tonneau??---Jack
Just from the neck up Jack. ;)
Gordon - It looks like I have a couple of friends from DC who are now planning to drive over to Carlisle. They may be staying Friday and Saturday night, and I have asked them if they want to attend the dinners those evenings. While I haven't heard back yet, you might want to pencil in Tim and Pat Batey.
We'll be there in less than a week!!!! C'mon folks, let's get enthusiastic!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How's That?

I've been working on several little things on the Hoopty, in preparation. It goes into the shop tomorrow for some (hopefully) minor stuff.
I'm READY for Thursday to BE HERE!
And I can't wait for an egg sammich. Wasn't Lane buying for me all weekend?

Teresa, Given the fact that you are appearing on behalf of Cory, and where he is now and why, you shouldn't have to pay for any egg sammiches.
Yeah....we all nominate Lane Anderson, a "Still Working and not yet living on a dwindling fixed income retired person" to pick up the tab for Teresa's Egg Sammiches for the weekend.
Right??
Or maybe the rest of us can make sure she doesn't go hungry if she starts to look a little frail from lack of food.
Cory would like that, too, I'm sure.....

Awww ... Thanks y'all.
Cory really wants pictures -- of everything! I'd like get people to send them to me so that I can make prints and send them to Cory. Since everything has to be shrunk down to be uploaded to this site, I'll be asking folks to clog my email inbox with higher resolution pictures.
On another note ...
I took all the hometowns from Gordon's list and I made a few maps so we can see where everyone's coming from.

I will be more than happy to buy egg sammiches for Teresa.
WOOHOO!!! Two days from now I'll be on the road!!
CAN YOU DIG IT?!?!?!?!?!?
Gordon - My friend Tim and Pat Batey WILL be joining us for dinner on Saturday night. We gotta be approaching 90 people, or so, for that dinner. What're we up to?

Miss Teresa - Way cool map!
I'm with Jack - the "Big Picture" says a lot...
Lane:
OK on the Bateys.
Dinner headcounts have been fluctuating as a few folks have had to drop out, but we're holding at 80 for Saturday. Max and Toni Zimmer have to do a "work thing" on Saturday, so we'll have to harass Max on Friday instead. No chance he was gonna get the Farthest Distance award (he may not even be bringing his silver bullet) but this year looks like we'll have a battle for Longest Distance Driven. We'll see!
Dinner Headcounts:
Thurs: 51
Friday: 74
Saturday: 80
Wild Bill and I (and, I'm sure, a few others on here) remember when we had to twist arms to get more than four for Thursday dinner.....This has become quite an event over the past few years, thanks to East Coast Bruce kicking it off and a lot of other folks deciding to make the trip.
See Y'all at Carlisle!!!
