Just wanted to tell those who do not know Kirk & Mary at Vintage how wonderful this team and company are! We all are aware that Monday a huge theft occured at VS. My new widebody is being built now and was spared by being locked in another building. Although Kirk & Mary are going through a very tough time, I was still welcomed to come down to the shop and help with the lowering of my car. Kirk made sure that I felt welcomed and did not let his trouble overshadow my personal needs during the build.

It is obvious that there are some more custom/quality replicas built but for the money and time they do the speedy in, it is nothing short of amazing. Anyone considering a new speedy should work with VS.

Below I have posted a few pictures of JR from VS driving our newly lowered (used drop spindles & spring plates in rear) in circles to settle the stance. Our fat 356 is far from classic but exactly the scratch for my Cobra itch!!!

Hi Billy.
The car looks great! I'm not sure if it's the angle of the photos, but it actually looks lower than mine in the front. I would suggest that you take it out on the road and drive it in and out of some driveways. If it IS lower than mine, I think you will quickly find that you will scrape you nerf bars on many of them even if you take them at an angle. My own drive way is not steep at all, but I can't negotiate it straight on or I scrape. Also, how much space did you end up with between the rubber bumpers and the stops on the rear? It will also help if you can find a really rough road to test it out on.

QUOTE: "Your speedy looks great and you will fit right in with the other outlaws up there.Cheers Dave"

Thanks Dave; a very nice bunch of guys/gals on this forums....refreshing to just be with those who appreciate diversity in the hobby....I was afraid that the purist snobs would take all the fun out of this replica gig BUT it seems to be a very accepting group here.

Best
Billy, a big part of my enjoyment when I meet other SOC members and see their cars is the personalization of each car by the owner. You will see the wide variety of styles, colors, engines, wheels etc. when you go on a run. It's all about freedom to make your own fun. I get such a kick from seeing how other owners trick out their cars. From the classic approach of Dusty, who details out his engine with Porsche oil filter etc. to Desi who has an outlaw looker with detailed metal work that has to be seen to be believed. Every time I see his car I see more details that impress me. Instead of a pile of carbon copies, we have a move able feast of exotic delights! Welcome
Great post Will......I built 1932 Steel Body Roadsters for years as a business and the same "that's why they call it CUSTOM" approach applied......beauty is in the eye, right......hell, I love dark, tall, lean brunettes; some guys eat up the voluptuous blondes.....we all have our carnal desires!!!!
Billy, don't worry about how Vince replys to your posts here.. it all about his tongue and someones cheaks... LOL... BAAAAAWAAAAAAHAAAAAA Oh by the way you gotta join our rides here too. the SOC'ers will get you in the loop real soon here.. Most are OC guys but some of us live closer to LA... You'll need to drive out here to join us for a carbon canyon runn and lunch at Flo's in the Chino Airport.. Welcome to this madness and get that SEG off your mug.. LOL.. Looking forward to seeing your sweet tub in person soon...

Welcome Billy, we look forward to meeting you!

I agree whole heartedly (sp?) about what you said regarding VS and Kirk and Mary, they are awesome and I know they will recover from all this drama.

Enjoy your new ride, I just washed mine this morning and I still smile everytime I open the garage and see her parked there.
About 15-16 years ago, when I worked in Southern California in the aerospace industry, Kirk helped me tremendously to build my silver speedy. I still have it and am building another engine for it. I can honestly say, Kirk is first class in my book and I hope he and Mary come out well from this ordeal.

BTW, Kirk, Judy says "hello". Unlike back then, she doesn't help me "wrench" on the car anymore since we now have two munchkins to raise.

Hang in there,sincerely,
Tony and Judy from Las Vegas
