Aside from needing a windshield, the parts list is getting longer. I have no door handles in or out and no bumpers at all. Those surface mounted engine hood hinges have to go so I will need some of those and a number plate light. I have no door caps and no interior or hood at all. Bonnet catch and finally side bright work. Any ideas on which direction to point my nose.

I believe people have bought parts off of Vintage Speedsters to finish cars, and there is a company selling Speedster parts (I'm sure someone will chime in with the name). I can tell you that Speedsters look really good without the side trim. Al
Go outlaw. It will save some money if you go bare bones. For inspiration google emory motorsports.
Are you able to get all the parts staged together in US to ship with vehicle? Some companies simply won't ship OCONUS. I've found great price at vintagespeedsterparts.com - plus the catalog has great clear pictures. Some have said the builders get their parts from this source. Shipping is a flat $15 (except oversize items). VS (the builder) would surely have all parts required in one place to include convertible top/tonneau and full interior. You need a "road trip" to Calif!
Door handle $59.90 pr (exterior - interior are VW)
Deck lid hinges $15.00 ea (welded steel brackets are also needed but not listed)
short (rear) and tall (front) bumper bracket $8.95 ea
Front bracket $25.94 ea
Did you ever see the Tom Hank's movie --- Money Pit? Contact the guy from Australia who has a completed Merklin built car waiting to ship in Calif (Customs problem) and trade with him - you'd be $$$ ahead.
