I checked the Ebay ad and they have removed all references to the body being a Beck.

Beck talks, people listen!

Not all of them! Carey may have to call again! As of Saturday Jan 23 at 10:50 am, this is in the Q&A section:

Q: Can you post or send me a picture of the chassis? What tells you this is a Beck?Jan-21-16
A: Hello, The body had Beck stamps all over it. The doors also have a Beck stamp on them. One of the gentleman that helped us put it together works on these cars everyday, and he also acknowledged that it is in fact a beck body. I will take a picture of the Chassis in a few hours, and I can send it to you. Also, feel free to call me should you have any additional questions or concerns Thank you, John 949-295-4036

Does Beck stamp their bodies/parts? Why would they do that?

I was under the impression that their bodies were made by someone in Mexico (2nd or 3rd hand info, so dont' take it as the gospel truth) and they make bodies for another Speedster builder, so maybe they sold the guy the shell and all they on hand was one destined for Special Edition?

No, we do not stamp our bodies with Beck emblems.

Other then that, here are some of the ways I know it is not my body;

My floor has a unique design that allows for much more foot room due to the tube chassis layout.  The floor is one piece and incorporated into the body as a complete single unit 100% sealed, this body is not that.

We make our own center tunnel to the proper height, this is a VW tunnel.

The front trunk area of my car is also incorporated into the body and a different shape than the VW based replicas, this is a VW based kit from trunk area.

My engine bay has a different shape allowing more access to the carburetors, inner wheel wells that are incorporated into the body and a rear shelf that is incorporated into the body, this has none of that.

My door jambs, are shaped after an original and incorporate a lip for a channeled D rubber to press on, these are flat like a CMC/VS/etc.

My dash has a detent to allow the column to be raised by 1/2", this car does  not have that.

There are several other small details as well, however I think that is enough.  It is NOT a Beck...

ALB, we have never had any bodies made in Mexico.  I believe that VS has theirs made in Mexico and also sells to JPS?  Maybe that is who you are thinking of...

I apologize for not looking in the Q&A section.  I read through the description and saw that he no longer referenced it as a Beck.

Good Gravy, Stan, but you've got a way with words. Personally, I really like the darts off the headlights. And, overall, I think it presents well for its intended purpose -- kind of a "let me show you what's possible," sort of thing.

Like Gordon said; I get ideas from everyone else's guinea pig efforts, and when they work, they work.

I got myself into a bit of an imbroglio with Daniel Verwers a bit ago over the high-end approach on his interiors, and this reminds me of that. There IS a market for what's going on here, and I was completely taken aback by the number of shops and erstwhile companies making good money doing it. His cars remind me of the Singer 911s, though, and go in a slightly -- but significantly -- different direction than this car.

This one looks to have some of Daniel's parts in it, and maybe the same upholsterer, but isn't as well off in the machinery department (if we read the ad copy right). And Carey's already pointed out the same VeeDubness I think any of us could have picked out.

My cup of tea? No. And I'm usually in the camp that prefers very simple things. If I was taking Jeni to Ruth's Chris for dinner, though, I'd much rather roll up in this than in ours. Which, for me, limits the occasions for use, but I can see who might buy it.

I really don't understand the price-point, though. I (and you, Stan, along with scores of other folks here) could not possibly get back what we've spent in the used-car marketplace, but that one looks for the buyer who isn't financing or piecemealing their way into the driver's seat.

On a 1-10, in the looks department, it's a nine. In the engineering department, maybe a five. The advertising though, is a zero. That write-up will deter a lot of educated people.
