Time is coming close to lay down some paint on my car and I still have no idea what I want to do.

1) Red exterior, tan interior
2) Keep the current silver exterior and go oxblood red interior
3) Off white exterior, tan interior
4) Black exterior, tan interior
5) Black exterior, oxblood red interior.

I'm leaning towards the red exterior and tan interior, but then I see pictures of black and tan and the red just don't look so hot anymore.

Any input from owners who have they're speedy's in these colours?

pro's and con's?

Another unlisted choice was

- Gunmetal grey shell and oxblood red.

If I go the red route, I want something that's pretty deep, I was looking at Signal Red from Toyota/ Milano red from Honda, and all seem a bit too light for my taste.

I quite like the whiskey colour than the light tan as I actually want to drive this car a lot, not clean it all the time.

I love black, but am afraid that once I paint it, I'll have to sort tonnes of issues, cause we call know how well black hids mistakes.

Thanks for the input Lane & Bob...........
Red is the hotest liked color , but doesd draw to much attencion . and is the highest price color you can do..

Black is my first choise but requires a flawless body removeing any ripples in the glass work .

I.d steer clear of metalics due to how fussy metalflake can get . tough to match and also so is red.

I'd do the body and go black with red interior a very classic look.

But for us who like short cuts light pastel colors like white or yellow are the easyest to match and hide flaws and diry cars well.

Not to say i like a dirty car. But its more forgiving if you get caught in a rain
My car is black and buck ,it's sharp and my wife says it's masculine (but then again my wife's car is black). Wait til you chose your color. When I picked black ,then there was the decision of WHAT black. Man, I had no idea there were so many blacks. I went to all the new car auto dealers til finally I gave up and let VS paint their JET Black on it. Love it and it looks great. Black does show the dings with a light primer. Black makes a statement !

i PUT A CODE GM 12 WHITE ON MY EL CAMINO WITH A RED/BLUE PEARL FLIPFLOP MIX IT HAS A GLORIOUS LOOK IN EARLY MORNING OR LATE EVENING A REAL EYE CATCHER. BUT ITS ALMOST A HARD TO MATCH AS A METALIC PAINT bUT iTS THE ONLY THING I WOULD HAVE ON THAT CAR ..

IT LOOKS RIGHT ON IT.

i ALSO AGREE WITH THE JET BLACK I SEEN THAT ON A VS ..

ITS SPOT ON !
Be very wary of paint color chips. They ALWAYS seem to look different on a finished car than they do on a color chip chart. Go to car shows or to a dealer to view the real product. I've approached many people in store parking lots to obtain year and model of a factory color.

p.s. I've painted two houses in the past year. Same problem with color chips! Maybe it's just me (and the wife).
Oh man.

Well I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon at dealerships.

To be honest, nothing I saw really caught my eye. I have 2 paint ideas that are in my head that I can't really get rid of. The whole overall scheme that I want is classic.....I don't really want to go any metallic or non standard colours.

1) Black with Red interior
2) Slate with Ox Blood red interior

The condition of my speedys body is actually way better than average in fact there are no ripples, no rolls, no cracks, no nothing, so I'm seriously considering black.......seriously seriously. Only thing that ever put me off black was the fact that it's a cow to keep clean, I mean seriously, cleaning the speedy takes all of about 20 minutes.

Hey Gary

I am driving a back speedster in South Africa. Its an absolute bitch to keep clean. If you are going to drive the car often like I do I would recomend something lighter. Even the slate is going to show the dirt quite quickly but will be better than black. The black will go very well with the red interior.

I am considering changing the color to red as an indication as to how bad the black is on a daily driver.
PS: I remembered the interior leather color: Cork.

Also, the Carmona Red Metalic is a very mild metalic, just enough to catch your eye in the sunlight, sort of like pearl, as I have been told. Go to a Porsche dealer and look for a car, or study the paint samples they have there (half cylinders of plastic or some such), painted w/ all the colors they offer. They are cylinders so you can catch a highlight off the curvature. Take 'em out in the sun and see. I agonized over these choices for months just as you are, and it can drive you crazy. The deal was finally set for me when I found a Ceyane (?) at a dealership w/ the CRM color on it.

The JPS website photo gallery has a whole bunch of car interiors there you can look over. And the business about metallic colors being hard to do? Well, I am no painter, that's for sure, and it very well may be a hard thing to do, but I can tell you that if the shop knows how to do it, then it will come out fine. There seem to be many shops that know their stuff.
Gary, as I said before my car is a daily driver and it's black and it does get dirty, but I spray on some quick wax (it takes all of 5 min.) and its done. No big deal. The color should reflect who you think you are and not what you think looks good in other peoples eyes. After all you are the one driving it and you have to feel good with whats wrapped around you. I know, I know this is going to open up all kinds of smart ass comments whether you are a green sort of guy or a light blue sort of gal (or am I showing a color bias) up what the hey. If your into pink, go for it.
How much fot the dog, it would look great in my black and buck tub ?
I have never once regretted the Slate Grey color. The total lack of any metallic sheen really sets it apart from the modern Porsche grey. I also like the fact that it's an "official" color and adds to the classic aura of the car. I have seen a Chevy HHR in a horrible parody of this color; if I see the one at my work I'll try to get a photo of them side by side so you can have a good laugh.

The look varies quite a bit in different lighting; the bright sunshine photos look much lighter than usual to me.
