i just love my RAL1015 HELLELFENBEIN exterior with Cognac 2 toned interior leather - it is a very classical color for the speedster.

as my painter also said, when paint it black the body really have to be 100% without any ripples, the white color do not show the ripples

good luck in choosing, i spend a lot of time wondering what color combo to choose.

Had another long sit down last night with my painter and I must admit deciding on a colour is pretty fun.

3 hours spent, doing.........erm, no, erm yeah, BUT..........hmmmm, what you think Chris? Hmmmmmm, that does look good.......yeah I know, but hmmmmmmm, what about........honestly.......lol.

Like you guys said, whatever I spray it, it's going to turn heads anyway, I mean it's half assed silver at the moment, with half assed wood and black interior and it STILL turns heads.

But at the end of the night, we did narrow it down.

As nice as slate is, it doesn't really do it for me. He showed me a awesome red that has put it back on the map as well as a classic ivory colour.

So that's the final two. I stay and work in an area where there is a LOT of construction work going on and I know that as nice as black is going to be, I'm going to be cleaning it a lot.

Red will be with the darker tan interior and ivory will be with a lighter tan interior.

Boring hey?

Gary -

FWIW, I think you ALREADY KNOW what color combo YOU WANT (Black w/Tan interior)! You've just been trying to convince yourself to NOT paint/upholster with that color combo!

If you do finish you car with some other color than the Black/Tan you desire, everytime you see a Black/Tan Speedster you'll think to yourself, DAMMIT I shoulda gone Black/Tan!

Like you said before, armed with a 'California Duster' and Detail wax, it would take you maybe 20 minutes to get that Black Beauty looking good (use a car cover when you have your car at work).

...I'm just saying...
Gary,

What Jim said. My car is being built as we speak. Strange thing, I had always wanted a silver speedster with red interior. There was no question until i put money down on my build and was actually faced with the decision. I ended up choosing black with red... up until a week prior to paint. My speedster will be silver with red leather interior. My last 4 cars have been silver. I really like the color. I was thinking in my head there are already so many silver speedsters out there... my car will not be all that unique. After thinking about it I have actually seen a total of ZERO silver speedsters on the road. These cars are unique in and of themselves.
Go with your gut. If you love the black than keeping it clean will not bother you. It will be a labor of love. Or Something like that.
I know, I know... LOVE THIS!

I love light colored interiors. I was originally going with a olive green metalic for the exterior. I sprayed a sample and held my stafast tan top to it. It didn't look right. Being that the stafast canvas tops are very limited in colors, the exterior color was dictated by the interior. I wanted both the exterior and the interior to match. I used the tan top material and matched that up with the carpet as this was the next material that was limited in color and then the vinyl, which they have so many. I'll end up having the top, door panels and carpet all matching. Unless you end up with black interior, you may consider matching your top with your interior. Or maybe the door panels and the carpet. There are so many shades of tan, grey and I suppose even red. Lastly is the paint for the interior. I was lucky and found a spray can for the interior that also matched, but you could just as easily mix a custom color.
Just a thought. Ben
Decided on the colour.

Ivory exterior with light brown interior. Pretty much the car that jesper posted.

The reasons for going with this colour was pretty much the following.

1) Black is just too hard a colour to get right on a 15 year old speedy, the body has to be perfect, I work in a very dusty area and there is a lot of construction work going on and everytime I'm going to want to take it to work on the fly, I'll have to clean it first.

2) As nice as red seemed, it was just too much of a common colour, two friends of mine in SA are both going with red and I don't want the same.

3) Ivory, The main reason that I decided on Ivory was that it's a classic colour, looks the part, with the trim from klasse on the car it'll really set it off.
