If I heard the local ABC news correctly, Porsche has obtained the old Ford assembley plant in Atlanta and is planning to open their U.S. headquarters here.... (Film showed a "ground breaking", so I assume its a done deal with city, county and state.) Could this be a reason for a Speedster Event???

Ya think they'll let us near the place?

But we don't own Porsche's ....
'zactly!

NOPE
not that it matters, but is there a lot of anamosity between Porcshe/Porsche owners and replica owners??? I'm new as a speedster owner
Bet they wouldn't even know...
There are Porsche owners that really stick their noses up at replicars ("they're not real Porsches, you know") and when they find out your car is plastic, won't carry the conversation any further. Then (at the other end of the spectrum) there are the guys that appreciate that these cars are actually driven...
No kidding, they don't like us?
Oh, it's even worse than that. There are those in the Porsche Club of America (PCA) who own 911-style cars who look down their noses at the original (steel) 356 owners as not owning "true" Porsches ( the 356 shares a lot of parts with VW beetles, you know......as do the 912, 924 and 944, but who's keeping count..... ).
It got so bad in the Boston PCA a couple of decades ago that the 356 folks left the club and formed the TYP356NE club of just 356 owners - there are currently about 130 members. In 2012, it was the TYP356NE group that hosted the Porsche East Coast Holiday for ALL Porsche styles, back in August. Talk about a slap!!! But they were great about it, had HUNDREDS of cars show up and did one hell of a terrific job running the event.
Then, of course, there is the 911 animosity toward 944 owners, 928 owners and on and on because "they're not REAL Porsches, are they?"
Now.....would we like to discuss how many VW parts are in a Boxster??
Oh, the humanity....
BOY THEY WOULD PROBABLY SHOOT ME IF I SHOWED UP IN THE MIATA
Gerddddd, they'd shoot you if you showed up in a 911.

1 weekend at Carlisle or Pismo with this bunch of SOC knuckleheads is waaaaaay more fun than the 25+years I was a PCA/POC member.
In the same vein, our little Speedster is THE MOST FUN car I've ever owned (owned various Porsches, BMWs, Mercedes).
No kidding, they don't like us?
I know Vinny; I don't get it either... I mean, they could be part of this
I bought a 911 after selling my IM. I had it about a month, joined the PCA and everything. It made me realize how much I missed my replica.... I've never even been to an SOC event with a car, but I find the people on the forum to be a lot more real and entertaining just by what I have been reading and in the few folks I met when I went to Carlisle etc...
I found instead of thumbs up or a barrage of questions about the car like with my replica, I simply got dirty looks when I cruised in the 911..... For me, nothing fun about it.... Long Live The SOC!!!
Scro-tum, I agree, long live the SOC....
"I find the people on the forum to be a lot more real and entertaining..."
Yup, I'm real, and Vinny is entertaining......
(sorry Vincent......I couldn't resist, but I'm in tight with the Atwells Ave boys)
Well, let's just hope Porsche does a better job with US production than Mercedes does in Tuscaloosa, AL. Our 1st gen ML had a handful of very "un-German" mistakes, and while our 2nd gen ML is much improved, it wasn't without some faults of its own... (BUT it is still a great SUV IMHO)
re: PCA. You will find a mix of responses. We have hosted a few PCA events here and the response is always very good overall. Like with just about anything... you can always find a few bad apples. LOL
