Big Jim....
Ginny really appears to NOT be on a bummer in your photo, near as I can tell.....
Paso Robles is a definitly in play if I can pull this motor deal off in a timely manner! CB claims a 7 week turn around. They have my exhaust (and my check), so the ball is in their court. Theroretically, I'm up and running by the end of March. I'm thinkin' it'll be "all good"!
In the mean time, I'd sure like to sell my complete 1915 VS motor.
Ernie -

Food for thought on your engine; Have a raffle for it, adverise on SOC, The Samba, E-bay or whatever, sell raffle tickets for $25ea (limit sales to 100 tickets for better odds to win). 80 tickets sold covers your asking price and the lucky winner gets a decent engine for $25 (or whatever number of tickets that individual purchased). Less than 75 tickets sold cancels the raffle and refunds raffle ticket cost (minus $5 handling fee - postage, whatever). You could have Theron draw the lucky winner at the Paso Robles meet.

Just a thought!
Cool! Ralph, our local "wrench" offered to loan me a new 2007 cc engine (90.5 mm by 78 mm) he's building for a dune buggy of his. He's offering to help install it in my car and he guarantees that I won't go back to my 1915 cc after I try it. As they say "Once you go stroker you never go back"...
Ernie,

Good luck! I called Pat about a turnkey similar to yours, and he was very helpful. I need to call back to check on the shipping costs.

The problem I've found with bringing the engine back into the UK is our crazy laws on import costs. I'd need to take the cost of the engine, then add on the shipping costs. And then add ten percent to the total of that to allow for import duty . .
Then take the total of all that and add 17.5% for value added tax.

Life in the UK is such a 'rip off'.
Talked to Pat today: he's swamped. There is now a (predictable) huge seasonal demand for his product. He indicated that the heads were installed on my motor today. The promised dyno demonstration this Friday for my pick-up day is, at this point, still on.
All I can say is: I'm glad as hell that I started this project back in Nov. The Spring rush is on kids! WOO HOO!
Well it's Sunday AM and all I have left is the electric fuel pump install, reinstalling the carbs and hooking up the wiring. I'm definitly taking my time on this one. Should be on the road this PM though.
Farmersville was like taking a step back in time. Certainly off the beaten trail! CB Performance is truly an amazing place to visit. For about 2 hours, Pat led me around the maze of rooms containing tons of neat parts and very expensive machine shop gear. All this good stuff quietly hiding behind the facade of a very simple '60's era building.
Of course, seeing and hearing my new motor perform on the dyno was "priceless". Pat is a great host and took care of my every question and need. Oh yes,,, the motor made 140 HP and 147# torque but still idled like a kitten.
Photos coming soon!
Got her running today Ricardo, but wait, there's more!
Oh ya...
Mr. funny guy (me) out road testing my new motor gets his 1st moving violation in over 20 yrs. Hardy Har Har! Strangely enough, 82 is not legal on a lonely 55mph country road even if you have a new motor in your speedster. The good news is that the motor is doing just fine! And the "kind" CHIP officer only wrote me for 72 and then told me that I can take an online Ca dept. of motor vehicles safty course to eliminate any driving record liability. I hope so...... He also advised me to hit the freeway if I really wanted "to go fast".
Jim... My exhaust sounds pretty gal-durned fine as a matter o' fact. Maybe too fine, I might add....
Sure is good to be back in the saddle, BTW.
Thanks everybody for all the advice that I received from this thread.
It is my pleasure to report that my winter project seems to be working out just fine. The only hic-up was the temporary oil leak at the distributor. Apparently, I just needed more break-in miles to get those rings seated.
I have to mention that Pat at CB Perf. treated me great! And the A-1 "sidewinder" exhaust fit up just right and sounds fine to me.
Thanks again, Ernie.
