Cindy & I have returned from three weeks in Namibia, Botswana, Zambia & South Africa. Eighteen flights was quite tiring, but we loved the short hop on the Bell Longranger. I hope to be able to bring pictures with me to share in October.

Thanx again to Hoss for researching great roads for this fall's outing. I sincerely urge everyone who is planning on attending to please contact the Talley Ho Inn ASAP to secure your reservation.
(see earlier posts for more info)

Hoss is right. If all of this rain will stop, we are going to have fabulous fall color in the smokies.

Its going to be a great weekend !
My car will not be ready for the Tail of the Dragon run. I don't even know if it will be ready by Christmas or even Valentines Day - maybe the 4th of July if we're lucky. Without a car we would prefer to wait until next years event and do it right. In December Steve made it sound like we would have the car in time for the Dragon and he suggested that we join in the fun and meet everyone. But, honestly, without our own car it just wouldn't be the same experience for us. We'll just wait until 2010 and (hopefully) we can do it the right way. We're anxious to get to know everyone but without a car we'd feel like nudists at a fashion show.
Douglas - FWIW I'd take DrClock's suggestion to join the cruise anyway. There's always an SOCer (or two or three) who doesn't have their car with them at a given event for some reason or another but still show up for the comraderie. You'll meet a great group of folks, you'll have fun doing the route and the event will help you keep your eye on the prize (your SAS in production)!

...I'm just saying...

Douglas--do reconsider the Tail Of The Dragon. That's my son, Russ and my grandson, Sean in the red VW and they had a blast. This fall they're returning in a rebuilt 914 thar Russ is working on now.

Don't sweat the car. Plus you will definitely get some ideas for your own car---guaranteed. You are very welcome!----Jack
Doug,

Please do join us. I am completly "between speedsters". I will be driving BIGBIRD, which is a 2008 C4S Cab. As I did in April with Lane & Aaron, I will be bringing up the rear.

FYI: At the Monterey Historics in 1995, I was in a rented Mustang convertible. My brother-in-law was with the SCOCAL Miata club, and they were forming up on Saturday AM to drive from Salinas to Laguna Seca. As I tried to keep my car in the rear of the procession, I heard one woman exclaim, "Well, I'm not getting in line behind a Mustang !" I stayed at the back, but within 1/2 mile our procession was heavily contaminated with contractor's vans & farm worker's trucks. So there.

Please do come. Its about meeting friends of similar interest (beer). The cars are simply nice props.
Friday October 16 diversion:

For those amongst us whom are"allowed" to gaze upon other marques, the 32nd annual Corvette Expo will be kicking off in Seiverville, TN (only 20 miles from our headquarters at the Taley Ho Inn). This event will be at the Seiverville Events Center, www.corvetteexpo.com.

Lane, We need to pay this a visit our our friday run.
As an alterntive, we can do the Pizza run to Maryville on Friday night, also about a 20 minute run from the Talley Ho and then proceed to the Foothills Mall for their weekly car show. This is only about a five minute drive from Uno (the pizza place) and I'm sure the gathered multitudes would love to see a bunch of cars like ours arriving together. Parking is not a problem there.

I had originally thought that we would do the Pizza run at the tail of the Tail, so to speak, but this might be even better. What do you Dragon Slayers think?
