Thinking the weekend following Labor Day, Sept. 13-15.

This tour will start in Auburn and travel up through the Sierra Foothills, through Lake Tahoe.

It's approximately 200 miles, round trip.

In the past we've done this in one day but maybe it should be two.

Looking for like-minded people to help with the planning.

I don't know what I was thinking when I started this thread, but the weekend after Labor Day is September 8-9.

So, that's when we'll do the third annual Tour, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

Andie and I are doing a dry run tomorrow, stopping at Jake's on the Lake for lunch.

If we follow the last tour itinerary, we'll start in Auburn, work our way through the backroads of Grass Valley, up through Nevada City and Tahoe National Forest, continuing on historic Highway 40 through Donner Summit. Drop down to hwy 89 to Tahoe City, break for a picnic lunch in town or at Meeks Bay, then around the lake past Emerald Bay and into Southshore. At that point we'll head back down hwy 50 through Placerville to hwy 49 and on through Coloma and Cool and back down to Auburn. It's around 200 miles. Depending on time and temperature, we can cut it short or add on.

Those coming from out of town - there are several good hotels and restaurants in the area. Some of you might want to extend your visit to explore the gold country or Lake Tahoe. Let me know if I can assist you with recommendations on lodging.

I'd like to get somewhat of a head count so we can determine where we'll picnic, where we'll start, etc...

This is a beautiful time of year in Tahoe as the crowds are gone and the weather is perfect.

I have no idea if anyone is coming to the tour. The two guys I knew were attending just canceled. The local vintage sports car club is aware of the tour but I have no connection with them. Who knows, maybe a bunch of them are coming.

No matter, I'm going. I love this drive and do it at least a couple times a year.

I'll be at the Holiday Inn Express on Saturday, from 9:00-10:00 AM.

After that, two hundred miles of beautiful roads await...

We missed you guys by like 5 minutes! I missed the first light and so turned at the second one to around and I saw a ?Copper? color speedster followed by an unknown classic car.

I turned right to catch up, but we hit "EVERY" red light!! We drove on 49 until we hit 80 and decided to stop the pursuit.

Bummer! Let me know when you guys go cruising again and I'll make sure to send out my phone number -- Sorry I missed ya guys.

Sorry we missed you, Loren.

I hung out until 10:10 but had to leave to meet up with a couple guys up the road.

We cut the trip short because my wife, Andie was at the emergency room in Sacramento. We drove up to Truckee, via hwy 20 and 40. Perfect weather and no traffic.

Just three of us; Steve, from the local sports car club with his '67 Morgan, and my neighbor, Scott, in his '97 Z3 with his friend Randy.

I'm always ready for a drive, Loren. Tpnuckels AT aol.com
