Hello Everyone,

I'm planning to put on a third brake light on my 02 Flared VS and I believe I recently saw some pics on this site. It looked like a 911 style painted the same color as the car. Can anybody redirect me to these pics I would like to ask the owner a couple of questions.
Or do any of you folks have any suggestions?
Thanks,

Larry

Very cool site, Jim. I've also been thinking of adding another brake light. The brade lights are so small on speedsters I alway worry about being rear-ended, especially on sunny days when it is hard to see the brake lights. Just a note; Intermeccanica has a third brake light installed in the grill of its new IMs.
Choices, Choices, I like both the license frame and the ones from "third brake". I just remembered the pictures I saw with the 911 style. I think it was some pics covering Max Zimmers roll bar. The pics showed different views of his padded roll bar. Did anyone else this? I have an 80's 911 third brake light and if it would fit/work I would use it.

Thanks again,

Larry
Hi Larry, I have shamelessly copied many of the details on Max's car. However, my car was already painted when I decided to add a third brake light, and I didn't want to have to paint the light pedestal to match, engineer the mounting, etc. Thus, I looked in J.C. Whitney for a small, l.e.d. brake light (about $7-8), siliconed it to the interior of engine grill, hooked it to the brake light, and, voila, a third brake light for small change. Regards, Jim
Larry, There is no need to tap off the switch. These l.e.d. units pull almost no amperage. The existing wire to the brake light should do fine. I opted for the smaller J.C. Whitney unit, since I was concerned about reducing air flow to the engine, even though I mounted it high in the cowling under the grill. Regards, Jim
Brian,

Sorry, I don't have access to my receipts. Go to J.C. Whitney online, they will lead you to 3rd brake light, I opted for the smaller of the two options, if memory serves me correctly. Center it on the cowling inside the grill. I placed it high on the inside cowling for maximum visibility. I removed the grill, siliconed it in place after wiring it up and moving it around to find the best placement. I ran some wire loom to cover the wires and tidy it up. Replace the grill, easy quick job. Regards, Jim
