Big John from Sarasota:

Yup, I know what you're talking about - when visiting the mom-in-law over in West Palm, you can't look in enough directions to protect yourself from the Octogenarians, and the bigger and brighter the brake light, the better. I think that, for some of them, one of those "STOP" signs like they have on School Buses would be good, only have it pop up right in their line of vision (and maybe hit them on the head to get their attention, too).

OK, on my third brake light: Early '90's vintage, Chrysler Convertible (any model - they all seem to be the same). Mine came from a '92 LeBaron convertible, but they're pretty commonly found in junk yards.

I use the regular stop light switch(es) attached to the master cylinder, but I have an additional brake light wire running from under the dash to the rear for the third light. The light's shape matches the roll bar and the soft top's rear window, it's RIGHT in the rearward line of vision, and it's plenty bright. Plus, it can be easily painted (Duplicolor touch-up in a can) to match your car. Make sure you get the rubber mounting gasket with it.

Also, do a search on this forum for brake light - there have been several threads about them with lots of different options.

Hope you two aren't home on Saturday afternoon for the same reason I am: RAIN. Have not had the VS out for 10 days. Think I'll go drink my dinner. Planned to be at Sebring for SCCA this weekend.

Alan: just cannot get the idea of a red lighted grill being as effective as a free standing 3rd light.

Gordon: like your junkyard idea. I have "bling" on my STS. Saw a rear deck spoiler at the Caddy house-468$--junk yard Nisson 20$-a little paint and there it is. Think I will start looking Monday for a Chrysler convert to rob.

Thanks for the hints guys!!!

Troy,
I don't have the JC whitney part no. The part no on the package is WE-10s Stock no 12-4335. If you go the JC Whitney website and search for 3rd brake light or brake light you'll find it. They have two sizes that looked like they'd fit. I got the smaller of the two offered. (10 LEDs)

The best part of this Made in CHINA part is the packaging and the Literal Chinese to English translations
The name of the part is
WING EYE
Ultra High Bright LED Stop Lamp
Here's some of the features listed on the packaging.
Low Consumption, used by 12V Vehicles exclusively
Outstanding igniting Speed and visualization

It is of weather-proof type and may undergone car wash all day
The future light sources will be ensured

It works Great,
Greg B
