You're right TC but still you didn't have to pay $16,000 for it. I realize the owner has some new and restored parts to go with it but it's still a lot of work. How much would you be able to get for such a car in pristine condition? Would the effort be worth it in economic (and I stress economic because getting to own and drive a car like that would be worth it any day) terms?
found an article on the net that sez that Porsche pre-A 356's had serial # from 80101 to 80200 for the first 200 made in 1954, serial #80104 was the one purchased by James Dean. If my other source is correct than there is no serial #60103 as shown in the Samba ad and it just might be a scam. Of course I am not an expert on these things, but the 6 on the serial plate looks like a different type of number stamping and I don't own a Porsche, but Speedsters shouldn't have glove compartments.

you guys are lucky you all own one of these replicas or the real McCoy

"the car in the ad has a glove box because it's a 1953 Cabrio"

Just in case anyone cares, the plastic glove box liner from an early 70's MGB is a near perfect replacement for the liner in a bent window 356.

With a sweet gray flocking, you can't tell the difference once it's installed.

Kinda good to know, huh? Now go out there and spread the word. Just don't tell anyone where you heard it or they won't believe you.
I think I'll invest in those glovebox liners, my luck in the stock market sucks. Had over 900,000 shares of Winn Dixie when the Bankruptcy Court said they could issue new shares without replacing the old ones. By the time I could dump them all I was left with 125,000 shares when trading stopped. Those shares were dropped from my trading company so I can see how Winn Dixie is Getting Better All The Time, at investors' expenses.
