Uh oh....
Well that really sucks!
I would have expected this from Massachusetts after their recent clamp down on vehicle inspections. Add this to all the autonomous driving research, just adds to the efforts to eliminate any fun in the driving experience. First manual transmissions disappear (ok a few left out their), next gasoline engines, then steering wheels.
wow for sure... some regulators forget to think things through...
Looks like my new post was a couple hours late...
I love how they just decided that now it was time to revoke their registration. I didn't read the entire article, but is there a way for these owners to re-register their vehicles?
Who do you write to?
Their state representatives.
So far, that hasn’t worked for me here in Massachusetts, but hope abounds.
I think there have been grumblings of this here in California and that could happen any time which would make my IM worth a few more pennies.
FUNNY how TEXAS will let ANY SENILE grandmother BUY A GUN but now her 40 horse power MANX is ILLEGAL. Hopefully she wont hop into her V10 AUDI, with her loaded AK47, and head down to the DMV for a light discussion about how UNSAFE her MANX is.
They might try to do this in California, but it would have to play out differently, at least for pan-based cars registered as VW's.
As it is, California DMV has no way of knowing whose 1969 VW has been rebodied and whose hasn't been. There's nothing on the title or registration that indicates that (as there apparently is in Texas).
So, unless you get stopped for something else and the cops have been told to enforce this, you'd probably still be OK. Or at least until you started working out your car's resale value.
I'd sure like to hear the back story on the Texas rule change - and you know there must be one. Stuff like this never happens spontaneously. Certain monies are certain to have changed hands somewhere in the, uh, legislative process.
There's probably a tale to be told about who paid whom and why.

Banzai, I'm finally going to ask..... why the weird placement of capitalized words?
IMHO, it makes it difficult to understand your messages. All capital letters in a word online is the equivalent of you screaming that word. Is that how you carry on a conversation in person, say a couple of words and then scream a couple of words?
I don't mean to be rude, but there is a pretty standard format on this and most other sites. Capitalized words should be reserved for those times when one wants to truly emphasize a point.
I'm to the point I've stopped reading your posts, and I would rather read them than pass on them, but it's just too distracting.

Contact the folks at SEMA they have had quite a bit of success with leveraging states for street rods, replicas etc,
I hope Jeff in Illinois doesn't try and sell his Manx to someone in TX!
G.K. was a genius - he dumped his CMC kit car because he knew TX was passing this law! It's only a matter of time before other states follow TX's lead with a similiar TX Administrative Rule 217.3.
Go check out Save the Texas Dune Buggy, Sandrail, & Kitcars. Join the cause at https://www.facebook.com/group...vetheTexasDuneBuggy/ to keep up to date. There is a petition you can sign. TX was apparently defeated when they tried to not allow sales of the Polaris Slingshot so the new Law can be revoked!
Washington State has a dozen or more billionaires that have very large car collections and they have political power...people like McCaw and Bill Gates ...... I don't think the legislature is going to tell Bill he can't drive his 959s on the public roads...
I am really surprised to see Texas acting like a nanny state. That's one of the last places I thought I'd see ban something because somebody just might get a boo boo.
