I love the expresion,.."More money that sense." Seems to apply here, if it is a real 55 speedster. If you are going to do something, regardless of the taste factor, just do it right.

However, I believe, that everyone is free to do what they want with what they have, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. Feelings are exempt from this rule.
The exhaust is a stainless steel Super Trap unit. The car is PISSA, but it needs to be in flat black. With some bullets as center caps.

They always mention Neil Emory as being one of the early customizers, later Gary Emory too up the hammer and dolly. I wonder if this isn't what one of Neil's cars might not have looked like . . . it WAS the fifties after-all. Not really he height of elegance in ANYTHING.
I saw the same car John. Scary stuff.
Regarding the red car above, I think it has a lot of neat touches although my eye drifts to the "Outlaw look" to see what interesting ideas people have in customizing an already tasteful palate of design. Lots of them add a nice flair to the basic design. Not all, but most Outlaw/HotRod 356's push my approval button FWIW.

Hey Vince!

don't take all our comments as negative - they're not!

I posted in another topic thread about wanting a '50 merc: "and last, a 1950 Mercury....chopped, channeled, shaved, with frenched lights front and rear.....in Black primer...or, better yet....Chrysler "Black Cherry"....all plumbed for "Flame-outs"!!

If I had this '55 Outlaw, I would have the best of BOTH worlds - Speedster and a slammed Merc!

One of only two "Flared Speedstah Guys" in Beaufort
(and the other guy's as crazy as I am!!!!)
Gordon,
I re-read the first 7 posts on this thread to be sure I didn't mis- understand what was being said.....still sounded kinda negative...
not that I give a crap, just an observation.....
I have seen a few cars posted within our group, that made me wonder what the owner was thinking at the time, but we are all a little different, and it is usually reflected in our rides....
John,

I think that the primer black speedster is "Frankenstein". If not, there's a car VERY close to it over at the 914 forum. Lots of build pics and shots of the car at various events, if anyone's interested. I LOVE that little guy.

Mitch,

FINALLY! Another "Supermarionation" fan?!? I was just watching M' Lady the other day when we were snowed in. Tomato soup, Ritz crackers, and a whole mess of marionettes in space suits . . . what a perfect day!

SuperTrap sideways is good (I'm supprised you have room with the flat 6 back there). I guess that the chrome honker sticking out the back of that car reminds me of a cafe racer bike with those "kitchen waste basket" mufflers on them. East Coast Bruce's looks great with his car with a flat black megaphone as he's got the racer look.
Still don't like this one, but its his dime. What ever floats your boat.

Hey, TC

What can I say - I'm a "retromaniac"
I love old classic movies and, of course, classic cars

BTW I work in the IT field, but I won't part with my 30 year old
mechanical wrist watch and my 40 year old Westclox baby ben
that wakes me up every morning - my personal act of defiance against
the computer chip ;-)
