Traffic in Charleston does some weird things, including stopping very suddenly for no apparent reason. I forgot for a moment that the Speedster does not stop as quickly as a modern car. Don't think I'll be driving it to Carlisle.

Tough break, Lane! So sorry to see this. Al
I cringe at the thought of that happening to me !.....I am so sorry Lane......I hope you are OK !
Best regards Lane........Bruce
Lane, I'm very sorry to learn about this. Not only because of the accident but because I was really hoping to finally meet you up in Carlisle this year.
Cliff Presley
As long as its the CAR and NOT you....anything can be replaced!
Sorry to see this! But very glad you are okay, the car can be fixed.
James
I feel bad about the car...That really sucks, but are YOU OK??
Wow hope all is well.
Sorry Lane, I'm thinking you'll still be at Carlisle, just not in your own car. Glad you're OK.
So sorry, Lane. A cautionary tale about our clown cars.
The only thing that really counts is that you are ok. Hope that is the case.
Heal well. What speed did that kind of damage? Slow speed rear end?
Ouch, but... Cars will come and go. It's far more important that you are ok.

DANG, Lane! Hope you didn't sustain any injury. As for the car getting crunched, it looks repairable, but I feel your pain seeing your baby in that condition. @Lane Anderson
Hate to see that. I have to echo the others thoughts that no one was hurt.
Ouch! Sorry to see your baby in pieces. I hope no one was injured.
I would call it moderate speed rear impact. I had gotten down below 20 (I think) when I hit him. His damage was confined to the rear bumper, which will have to be replaced. I’m bruised and swollen. The bridge of my ample proboscus (sp?) hit either the windshield frame or the top of the steering wheel. My chin hit either the wheel or the horn button. My forearm hit... something. Tomorrow will be painful.
Ouch. Does your car have shoulder harness. I. Wonder if tha would help. I think most of our cars has lap belt.
Lane,
Thank God you are OK bumps and bruises are expected. I'm sure that the spare tire in the well absorbed quite a bit of the force ... Also sure that you are properly insured as IMHO most likely it's totaled ......... Again so glad you are safe at home.
Mine came with 3-point belts, but the shoulder mount was a bit low for me. I converted to racing style lap belts for comfort. Gotta be a better way.
Glad you're ok with just few bruises. Car can be mended.
That's such a bummer Lane - get some rest and hit up the Advil.
Not sure what this means for the coupe, yet.
I’d love a drink right about now, but I’ll be abstaining tonight, just to be safe.
Glad you are OK and only bruised up a bit!
Go get checked out right now . Please just to be safe ...I say this as a former Squad member and not over reacting. A front lobe impact of any kind can be a serious thing with nothing presenting itself. Do Not go to bed later and fall asleep before getting checked out
Lane,
Glad to hear that your physical injuries are comparatively minor. Alan has it right that some injuries take a few hours to manifest after a traumatic event.
You'll have lots of options for seat belts/harnesses with the coupe for 4, 5, or even 6-point belts with either a 1/2 cage or harness bar as shoulder strap support. I'll bet Carey already has option plans on the drawing board.
Sorry for your troubles, Lane. I second what Alan just said. You're probably fine but you gotta check.
Listen to the Doctor. You really should have yourself checked out, Lane. Head injuries are sneaky. The car can be rebuilt or replaced. Sorry this happened.
Holy. Cow.
So glad you're OK, Lane. I saw the picture, and just about vomited. I'm really, really glad you're still here.
As everybody has been saying-- just make sure there's no hidden damage in YOU. You can deal with the car as time allows.
Man!
Wow, sorry about your accident... scary stuff.
Ooof. Quite the sad site. Hope you're okay.
Ted
What a horrible thing to have to go through. I hope your injuries are not severe as the damage. After all, your health is far more valuable!
Yikes!
I've never met you, Lane, but this feels like it's happened to a family member.
Please take the advice you're getting about seeing a doctor. I hurt my back a few years ago (and still don't know exactly how), but it was a few days before symptoms showed up. In some ways, we are even more complicated than four-cam racing engines.
My back eventually healed OK on its own. We are also surprisingly more resilient than, say, fiberglass.
The car is just stuff. You can always get more stuff.
DAMN!!!! That sucks rocks big time..... I hope all your personal injuries are minor and pass quickly.... As for the car, it will take more of a massage to get it into proper working order.... I'll bet Special Editions is holding a prayer service for the two of you....
What a bummer. Anyone in the other car hurt? Sorry to see and hear this. I usually don't put my shoulder strap on but I will now after hearing what happened to you. Hope you recover quickly.
Makes me wish I got the 4 point restraints and the role bar in the spyder. Glad you are kind of ok. But you might want to get checked out. If you go to USCMC say hi to my son Sam. He the taller, younger. smarter, better looking me.
Now that is the daddy spirit.... taller, more handsome, go farther my son
Sorry to see this, Lane. It’s a tricky situation drivng these cars in traffic with other drivers sometimes making reckless moves. We all have had some sort of close call over the years.
Hope you are okay.
Bummer! Get yourself checked out immediately. Cars can be fixed.
Pam and I thought about going in but agreed that at the first sign of headache, nausea, or anything we would go in. To be safe, she woke me up and checked on me every two hours through the night - asked me a few questions, etc. It appears to be just surface bruising. I’ve been putting ice on it and the swelling has reduced.
