After I fry the big fish, I might try to conjure something up.
Won't do me a bit of good to build something now, when I'm not even operational.
Stupid SUVs scare me in my Golf, though. There they are, in the left lane at 50 mph, talking on phones, drinking margaritas -- whatever else they do in those things. Chasing their kids around ... grilling steaks ...
Those things ought to be banned. Or at least they ought to be devoid of amenities that distract drivers. Maybe there could be a "kid compartment" they can stow-and-go the kiddies in. Something.
Geeeez.
Don't even get me started on soccer moms and minivans.

Maybe they are downstairs in the SUV, that's why they seem to be all over the place. Kinda hard to drive while your looking out the basement window.

A few years ago the CBC did a show on the US infatuation with SUV's even though 99% will never leave the road and they tried to find what was the biggest reason to have one. The number one reason, 'I want to survive in an accident'.

I headed up to Charleston, SC, yesterday, to a car show, with Peter McEwan as navigator.

We're humming along I526, heading West (even though ALL the signs tell us we're supposed to be heading East - it's a Charleston thing) and, as we get passed on the right by one of those huge SUV's, Peter comments; "Gee....isn't it interesting that you can see UP into the wheel well on that from down here!"

Peter was about level with the top of their wheel, which looked to be something like 20" in diameter with those rubber-band tires. You couldn't see the party or mobile-theater inside because of the blacked-out windows, but there was a pink sticker on the left rear glass that said; "Carolina Girl", and another one on the other side that was the state seal (Palmetto tree and Moon Crescent) done up with socker ball colors.

Damn thing looked the size of a Winnebago from a Speedster's perspective.....
Everything old is new again.
Back in the 60's and 70's the back country roads here in San Diego county were sports car heaven - hundreds of miles of S curves, elevation changes, little traffic, lots of trees and scenery, the desert beckoning just beyond. Then the truck mounted camper craze started. Everybody had to have one (today they all got Winnabagos). Suddenly the average speed dropped about 20 MPH (we are NOT talking freeways here) and lines of traffic appeared on every road. I sold the Corvette and - ta da - bought a truck, a camper, and a boat. I am the enemy!

If I want to "drive" the speedster, I have to go out real early Saturday or Sunday morning. All the rest is just profiling.
David...you are so right...I came to this country in 1967 and lived in Pacific Beach with my family a lot of years and let me tell you I remember the same thing. We moved to North County and we thought it would be less congested but slowly got just as bad. We are fortunate to live close to the coast so we cruise the coast every weekend just about. whatyourgonnado????
