Felt this coming on... gas peddle is no longer working. How and where do I look to fix. I have not gone under the car yet. Thought I write this first to learn what are members might suggest.
You don't need to go under the car for this one. The cable routes through a tube. If needed, you can change it out from the passenger compartment.
I'm not one of the gurus here, but I'd start in the engine compartment to make sure it's still attached at the linkage. If that looks okay, check the pedal end.
If you can pull on it from either side to any degree, there's a break and time to replace it.
Feed it from the passenger compartment to the back and reattach. >
Disconnect at carb - linkage, crawl under the driver's side dash and with a needle nose pliers remove the S' hook from the accelerator pedal roller arm that is along side of the tunnel. Slowly remove the cable sliding it through a rag to clean it as it should be loaded with grease. Reverse process to install.
