3/4 inch freeplay at the pedal is what I generally set it at
Thanks, PETE
According to the orange (1970 and newer type 1) Bentley manual- 10-20 mm (3/8-3/4").
I like as little as possible. 3/4" would drive me nuts.
Arden,
Did you use the Big Boy clutch pedal shaft upgrade to get more distance between the brake and clutch pedals. How hard was it to install??
I didn’t get the Big Boy but I did do the the clutch upgrade. It was pretty easy the Big Boy has a longer shaft and a shim I would definitely recommend it !!!

I am having a VS Speedster built. Will check with Greg.
Thanks!
JPRDPR: I installed the Big Boy clutch pedal extender set up. It was straight forward although the brake pedal return spring was tricky. The spring needs to come off so the pedal assembly can be removed, to allow installation of the spacer and extended pedal shaft. If you don't have strong hands getting the spring off and on can be tricky. I used a small wood block & ice pick to get enough leverage. Hope this helps. The YouTube video is also pretty good.
EWATUB,
Thanks for the info. Greg and I decided to hold off on using this because of possible interference with footrest being installed on side panel.
JPRPDR: Good call on holding off for the footrest install. Being one of the champions of unintended consequences, you're wise to see how everything fits first.
@jprpdr How did the installation go? I'm looking into the same thing and found this thread.

Spring tools are worth their weight in gold (or the blood you don’t spill using anything else)
Since I have two on my cookie cutter, I keep a small one in my side pocket.
