scammers are all over motorcycles too, especially nortons.
Scammers are all over everything. With the amount of resources dedicated to enforcement, fraud is basically legal; has been for a decade or two. So much so that, even when caught dead-to-rights, dudes be like http://www.citypaper.com/news/...-20140812-story.html
Yep, looks like someone took my photos from TheSamba ad I have. I had two people contact me right away that I am sure were scammers. One of them tried very hard to get a copy of my title and VIN. I refused without them seeing the car since I nee they were scammers. Unfortunate that there are people like this. I just posted the car on classic autotrader so I am sure I will get another round of scammers calling.
Looks like Craigslist finally did something right, there's no way to reply to the ad anymore.
I also just sent Craigslist a note to remove the ad. Hopefully they will follow through. Thanks for letting me know!
I always use eBay , period. Craig's List and Samba should be avoided. Buyer via ebay, doesn't get a copy of the title or VIN until they have sent Pay Pay / wired a $1,000 non refundable deposit, copy of their driver''s license, signed and notarized Bill of Sale that I provide...Upon full wired payment I always fill in the Buyer's name on the Title ( make a copy for your records) NEVER leave it black for any reason as to do so you are, in the event of a post sale incident, you still are the legal owner. That folks is concrete safe.
Along those lines ,as much as I like BAT, there is little buyer protection. And it is expensive for the buyer. 5% of final sold price. With out a 'buy now' price, one has to get an inspection and hope the final price stays reasonable... Some sellers know this and use it to their advantage. I don't have to have any car that badly - to simply spend tens of thousands of dollars because of the pretty pictures... Just seems nuts.
All,
I just wanted to let you know I sold my speedster today. It’s going to a great guy in South Dakota who will enjoy it as much as I have. Sold it through Classic Autotrader where I got a lot of inquiries. I will surely introduce him to this great site and group of people.
Congratulations on the sale. In your first post you mentioned getting a coupe. Any luck on getting one yet?
Yes. I am about a month or so out from receiving a ‘61 356B that is going through a full restoration. It is a perfect car that I can enjoy and my kids can enjoy with me.
Any picture of the coupe?
Here are a couple of photos.
Very cool! Love the finned drums and the lightweight hood hinges.
Nice color too. Keep the pictures coming.
Will do. Engine was just installed and they are putting the interior in.
Beautiful car! Congrats.
