OK all you Southern California Speedster people, how about a ride in September???????

How about 9/10 or 9/17? Any suggestions?

I'll be at the G. autofest on the 10th. I know their are several replica owners that will be in attendance Sat.

Vince, any suggestions for a meeting place? The OC/LA guys could meet in the Long Beach area off the 405, the rest could meet somewhere in the Valley. How about White Oak off the 101, we staged at the gas station there before.

The coast route would be better than the 101, I suggest the 1 thru Malibu etc....
I am gone for the next week, will try to find a computer up north somewhere to keep up with this thread........

I'll be going up the 101 from the 134 due to a very early arrival and wanting to avoid any L.A. traffic from Eastern O.C.

We are in Oceanside and would love to join you guys...I'm not sure about the Orange County show ? Isn't it only original speedsters? harper55@zol.com

It is ironic that David needs a vacation from paradise. I suppose the palm trees and the beaches and the ocean gets boring. Hey, next time you should come to Iowa, we have skunks, corn fields, bean fields for variety, and pigs. All very exciting stuff!!!!

I needed a vacation and I was so lucky, they are having a Porsche event while I will be in La. Sept. 10 and 11!

The other week my Porsche was repainted and I wanted to meet Kirk and Cathy at Vintage Speedsters and pick up some parts from them new Body side molding, wheather stripping and a Bra and other parts. It was so cool to go to Vintage Speedsters and get a tour of there shop!

I also am having a custom exhaust custom made in La. and the exhaust is being Jet Hot Coated.

Los Angeles so Awesome and a real Car City!

I just got a new toy. And I had to put a little cash in it but it is a runner. It has a nicely built 1835 and a freeway flyer trany no heater boxes no radio hell it doesnt even have a gas gage. But I took it to a bug show this past week and everyone loved it. I have put new carpet,door panels, window seals, pushrod tubes, complete engine tin, and new brakes. I only paid $3,800 Can any one tell me what it may be worth? It is a 1960 no rust factory ragtop!

It's actually original for a '56, Lago Green Metallic.

I really only had two other choices to stay original; going the much darker and non-metallic Palm Green ('53-'55) or the teal'ish, Fjord Green Metallic ('57).

Going to see the interior mostly in and body on chassis this weekeknd - I'll post more picks.

I bought a '60 in 1961 for $1400. No gas gauge (they came out in 1961 or 1962 IIRC), but twisting the reserve lever on the firewall was more fun than eyeballing a gauge anyway. The car was hard on clutch cables, but other than that, ran well. Wish I had it back.

Dave I was just out at the Fairplex in Pomona Antique car and Hot Rod show, and there were a ton of VW lovers there and their cars.. It would be a great place for you to get some real idea of what it is worth next time they hold one...
