The first one here is the last one from the race track. I left the shutter open for about half a second, thinking it would let more light in and make for a good experiment. I decided after that that I'd be better off using my phone for the race itself, and if I can figure out some way to upload the video from it, I'll try.
Meanwhile, back at Jim's joint, some guy dropped off an old Chevy truck for some sheet metal work and parked it next to the Sloppy Jalopy. Made for a nice photo op.

I actually had some fun working on this critter, and finally -- after almost two years of helping scrub clean, wash, grind, wheel and bolt parts on fast Bugs (for fun, not profit) -- I got to see one I had worked on go down the strip.
Anyway, here are some photos. I'll add more later. There won't be any of the car on the strip, 'cuz I used the camera on my phone for moving pictures. I don't know how to make that work on here without YouTube; I can't get there from here.
It was a good time Friday night, and the car didn't blow up. Too bad he never got it below 13.6 all night. Four passes; eighth mile. First time jitters, I suppose. He was taken to the cleaners by an old lady with a shopping cart ...
Good times, nonetheless.

Here's a couple more from the weekend. There were all kinds of cars in the staging lanes for the 1/8 mile runs. That was the first time I'd been to a Friday "Grudge Night" at the local track; lots of eye candy in fiberglass, sheet metal AND jean skirts.
I think I'm beginning to see the attraction ...

Looks like a lot of fun at the track! What do you think Hoopty would do in the 1/8 mile?

I'd have to use a calendar to clock it.
Timing is set at 30 degrees and the little idle jets are in. If I bumped it to 26 and put the 70s in, maybe 12 seconds. Man, I'd have to be on the ball, though.

That's cool, but what's with the blue painted cylinders? Black would dissipate heat a lot better. Radical heads too....
Yeah, so what's wrong with a single Holley on there, anyway????

no paint would have disapated the heat best.
Looks very nice though!!
