I was in a parking lot with no electricity nearby to solder the end. I spent four hours in the hot humid weather pulling and reinstalling my engine to check the pressure plate.

The last thing to button up was the accelerator cable and it was giving me a real fit (arthritis in hands) and my fingers where swollen. I've always been good at the little fiddly things with my hands, but not anymore...

I bought one of those little buggers last Fall and I wouldn't recommend it.  A mechanic in Bunnell, Fl used a similar ( but more robust ) version and it worked fairly well outside to do a quick repair for me. Totally self contained and portable.

The Bernzomatic is very slow to heat up and if there is any breeze, it is useless. For me, a crimp type repair would be a better bet on the road and then do a permanent fix when you're able. Just my 2 centavos...
