Hi Folks,

Remember I asked this... https://www.speedsterowners.com/forum/readmsg.asp?t=16372

Well, I sourced a pair of short axles 5 miles from my home !

Got them fitted up and now I have bags of clearance between body and tyre.....

The wheels that came with my kit were 4 1/2" and 5 1/2" chrome Brazilian Mangels both with 4" backspace. I don't have the rear tyres yet but I bolted up the wheels anyway....they are pretty tight on the adjustable spring plates !!

Searching the forum suggests that 185/65 x 15 "should" work but I'd hate to buy 'em and find out otherwise ...

Since the backspace is the same, I think I'll get the front 165's mounted and check them on the back.....

I'd love to know what you are all running ...Seems to be many combinations of axles/tyre sizes/offsets

I have 2 wide 5's laying around, I'll measure to make sure. But seem to remember that this is what I bought for the front....I'll double check!

But yes going to a local garage and pulling a tire from the junk pile is a great way to check for fitment.

The 185's I was told were normal Honda Civic size (common)

I have a pair of 165's for the front....Front wheels have 3 3/4" backspace rears have 4".....

So, I just got the front tyre mounted and tried it on the back. There is around 1/2" clearance to the adjuster..... Even with the additional 1/4" backspace on the rear I should be OK with the 185's :) :)
