Back 'in the day' - 1963 and earlier, maybe later too, I went off to the war then - customers would bring the VDubs in every 3k miles for service. That being check vehicle over, oil change, minor tune and rotate the tires. Bias ply tires, go figger. No wonder they had a reputation for reliability, they weren't outta the shop long enough to break anything.
Sorry...just always called them Herman Nelsons. This one's actually from Crappy Tire.

These things are really handy if you live in any place that's cold. The run on electricity and kerosene or deisel. Kerosene smells better than deisel but really these things should not be used indoors and they do need venilation.

They're great for working on your cars in the cold. My neighbour has an old parachute that he draps over his vehicle then he runs a duct from the heater under the chute. The duct has insulation so it won't burn the chute. And Bob's your Uncle! Great for quickly heating the garage, crawl space....any area you need heated. On sale here at Crappy Tire for $200 Cdn.

But they do throw a lot of heat! Used one in Rankin Inlet (on the shores of Hudson's Bay) back in the late 70's early 80's to heat an old Skidoo shack. Had it thawing out a frozen Skidoo but it caught the machine on fire and burnt the shack to the ground.

I know this is not in the right place but check out the pics of a trip we took to Rankin Inlet and Whale Cove in Christmas of 2002. Got snowed in at Rankin for 2 days and missed plane to Whale Cove, took sled to Whale (4 hours at minus 35-40), took Bombadier back..

Pretty bleak...and check out the price of a 2 litre Coke in Rankin. Whale Cove was more expensive!

Wow thats is amazing. One day we are going to visit the north. That is a cool Bombardier. There are lots here as well but they are collecters items now. You certainly are the bravest speedster owner out there.

+3 C and rain today after a week of above freezing and sun. The snow is melting very early this year.

I don't know about the bravest...stupidest crosses my mind!

The north is a great place and its been good to me but the isolation gets to you. I always envy you guys talking about an hour to here, a weekend trip to there. There's DICK worth visiting within 1,000 miles of here! Weekend trips...I've taken a long weekend a couple of times and driven out of here to Edmonton (14-18 hours) but I'd never do it in a sports car. The first 100 kms is murder...literally. More folks have been killed on this so-called highway...

Someday I'm going to take pictures of the roads up here and you can see how brave anyone is driving any decent car up here. This morning my Passat bottomed out on a local road...there was a rock about the size of a football in the middle of the road in a residential area that I didn't see...
