The tires on my Spyder were, ahem, 10 years old! They were Pirelli P400 and worked ok, or so I thought. You see, I thought I had a braking problem but it was really only the HARD tires. The RF would lock up prematurely on me. I have CSP front disc/ type3 rear drum(wider shoes/bigger wheel cyl).

So I finally bought and installed new tires. I got Bridgestone RE960 Pole Positions, which were much lauded over at Spyderclub.com. Got them mounted and balanced on the wide5s. That Mainely by Design balance adapter is THE thing to have for a perfect balance.

So I put a few miles on the car and I LIKE them. The sidewalls are way stiffer, but the ride isn't any firmer. How'd they do that? Stopping is way better, I kept pushing harder on the pedal and the front wouldn't lock up(remember me pulling up to dinner last year on Friday night at Carlisle? Screeeeeeech!)

Turn-in is crisp, and in general, the car feels more planted.

But alas, the tires are discontinued at tirerack.com. They are/were the last ultra high performance tire available in our sizes. So pick 'em up while you still can. H rated as opposed to the T speed rated Pirellis. The world is moving on to bigger rims and rubber band tires......185/65/15 and 195/60/15 on my car, that's the biggest that will fit on a Spyder.

Daniel, my IM also runs on RE906S tires (185/65-15). I would have liked to have gone wider (195 or 205 in the rear) but I don't have the rear fender clearance.
I like the tire - in my option it's the best tire in the 185/65 size. The only other decent tire choice in that size is the Falken Ziex ZE-912.
