I gave this car some thought last time it was on Ebay. IMHO the color looks way better in person.

beautiful car.
i sent an email requesting a contact number and found the seller to be somewhat unwilling to talk.
i guess he is too busy to sell his car.
my initial query;
"Dear bouvador13,
hello,
may i please have your telephone number?
i have a few questions about your roadster.
also please say what time is convenient for you to receive a call.
thanks very much."
his reply;
"Thank you for your interest on my auction.
Please use the eBay email to contact and if you do have any questions.
I'm extremely busy running my big horse farm and telephone communications can be
little difficult when you live into the western mountains of North Carolina.
So please! I will be happy to answer any questions you have about this beautiful blue 356 Roadster
Made by Intermeccanica.
I only can tell you this Automobile is perfect custom built in 2006 from the first owner.
The Porsche have after five years only 10,900 miles and never drove into bad weather.
And I drove over half on this mileage.
Please check www.intermeccanica.com and will understand this is a beautiful automobile."
what the hell?
it's nice to be able to at least speak with someone when you are trying to find out about a car for sale.
i really like the car but have some reservations about the seller.
does anyone here know anything about him, other than how busy he is?

If a seller can't be bothered to comply with resonable requests....
Run Forest, Run.
Run Forest, Run.
He has 2 cars for sale 7 transactions only bought never sold prob afraid of the ebay police or a scam....
JA! I'm with the Doc! Something about that Nigerian West Carolina accent in his response that bothers me.

It is an odd accent for a horse farmer from the western mountains of North Carolina. But he sure does have a nice horse barn.
I vaguely remember Tom telling me the current owner was originally from France or somewhere else in Europe. That might explain the fractured English.
On Jun-03-11 at 03:31:15 PDT, seller added the following information:
June 3th,2011
I have lower my reserve on my 1959 Intermeccanica blue Roadster this morning .
Thank you all for bidding on my auction.
Jack
IMO he might just be a bad typer & doesn't proof read.....or in a hurry all the time......or both..... probably isn't from another country. Wonder what he lowered it to? It is a nice car!

France sounds better than Nigeria :-)
Aren't the Coneheads from France??
So, this is what ebay comes to in 2011.
The potential buyer assumes "Nigerian scam", the seller assumes "phishing", and the same cars get listed again and again because nobody trusts anybody. There are ways around most of the misgivings both buyers and sellers have.
I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. What are you out for taking it a step further? If you explain (through ebay) that he's trying to sell an expensive item (sight unseen) and that you are seriously interested, but need to speak to him to bid with any confidence- he'll likely relent and give you a call (maybe give him your information, and let him call from a blocked caller ID number).
If you WERE the winning bidder- I'd definitely figure on a flight to Horsefarm, NC to inspect the car before making anything but a cursory "earnest money" down payment (into an escrow account).
I've been both an ebay buyer and seller of cars. I bought a couple of them sight-unseen, and sold a couple more that way. It's spooky for either party.

Maybe he is more amenable to a phone call now that he has had to drop the price. I doubt 10 minutes on the blower equals the amount of the drop in asking price.
