The hubcap clips on the wide-five wheels that came with my Vintage Speedster are too far apart. You put a baby moon hub cap over them and it looks like either the hubcap’s diameter is too small or the clips’ are too large. The only way to get a cap on is to line it up with three clips, having the remaining two sticking way out, and then smashing the cap into place. It works. But the clips are now under so much pressure that they spring into the rolled inner-edge of the cap so it’s almost impossible to get the damn thing off.

To find out if the problem is the hubcaps or the clips I tried a caps on an unrestored Karmann Ghia. It fit perfectly. Plus, the Ghia’s cap and mine were the same size. Therefore, it’s the clips being mounted too far apart.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Does anyone have a set of wheels with proper clips for sale?
