Top Bow

Hello all - does anyone out there know where I can find a top bow for my Speedster's top. I just inherited a replica, and it had a "new" top along with it - problem is that the bow doesn't fit the windshield, and I certainly cannot force the issue with the windshield (how may years of bad luck is that?). Plus, the bow was fractured to begin with. So, I need a bow that is slightly flexible. Ideas?

Kirk at Vintage is probably a good place to start, but bear in mind that both individual bows and windshields can be of slightly different shapes. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the VS's and JPS's and IM's of the world take a few header bows and match one best to the windshield frame for the best fit and then go from there.

It would be super-cool if you could find someone who would trust you with three or four of them, find the one that fits best (you'll still probably have to modify it very slightly) and then send back the rest.

Lacking that kind of support, then just get whatever one you can, and spend some time messing with it to make sure it fits your frame as best you can, without removing too much material.

A VS bow from Kirk does fits the CMC ! Alan

The bow on my CMC is made from fiberglass that can fairly easily be ground to fit the window top frame. Why not rebond the the broken area and grind it to fit properly. I had to do that with mine since the fiberglass was imprecise and suspect it had warped some.

I have three bows here and only need one. If you can't find what you need just let me know. Two different designs but both styles seem to fit my CMC pretty well.
