top replacement

I searched the board for the type of glue used to attach the canvas top to the bow but couldn't find the answer. I believe it was a contact cement, but would like anyone's experience with a particular type and a good place to get it.

I have used regular contact cement from any hardware store and it has worked great for me.

Check Auto Advantage, NAPA, etc. They have a spray adhesive that's used for auto vinyl repairs. Spray it on both the top material and the header bar. Let it tack up a bit and then put the two pieces together. Can be used on seats, door panels, dash panels, top material etc. Hold up well against heat & moisture. Regular contact cement may loosen up in the heat.

What they said, but yes, I just use contact cement. The aerosol is easier, but more expensive and tends to go on lighter. I like it out of a can for convertible tops. Been doing top replacement for 20 years.
