Yes I am well versed on your brother Kevins literary masterpieces (circa 1973-79) he commonly practices it in personal comversation.

By the way...

Commoner?   SIR......You don't even know how to spell that?

Further discussions on this subject to be held at the hotel bar in Tahoe

Im fully aware of my mispelling of conversation..  It was intetional..

Sometimes intellectuals like myself have to kowtow to the unfortunates out there and simplfy the spelling of words so they to can understand.

If you would would pick up the Terry Nuckles Guide "sound it out and spell it" (circa 1983) you will find all sorts of words like "ifinyoulike, sumtimes, comversation, buteteefull, and even the most commonly used "potatoe".  See even Vice Presidents own a copy of Terry's guide..

sorry you had to fold underpresher    Just hope I still have that bottle sumware!!

Back to "Tour" business.

Those of you attending the tour; I would appreciate some input on what you'd like to do or see while in Lake Tahoe. As I mentioned before, Dale Bates and I are working on several self-guided tours/activities for Saturday. You'll be able to strike out on your own or "buddy up" with others - up to you! There will be lunch options as well: restaurants close to chosen tours/activities, as well as a bag lunch option.

A good place to start is here: http://www.tahoesbest.com/wher...ng-around-lake-tahoe

After reading the article, check out the website as well. It covers pretty much everything available in Tahoe.

Look forward to your input here or by dialog or email: tpnuckels@gmail.com

Ok  I have a suggestion   Is there a cool place to eat lunch on the north shore?

we could do a morning breakfast meet then head out for a drive around the lake?

stops include emerald bay,  homewood  squaw valley tram ride?  Then north shore for lunch ?

just a thought

Well, there's one tour option, Tebs!

One of the reasons we're planning on several options is that most of the restaurants won't be able to accommodate a large group (8+) as it is still high season and they just can't service a table that large. We were at Sunnyside yesterday for lunch. Andie and I were seated in 45 minutes. A group of 8 waited over 90 minutes and were warned that their service would be slow.

However, if there is a large group that wants to do something like that I can try a couple different restaurants to check on availability.

One note on places like Emerald Bay/Eagle Falls/Vikingsholm: this is a popular spot from spring through the fall and requires EARLY arrival if you want any chance to park. It is well worth it, however, and if you've never been there you really should check it out.

Jakes MIGHT have a room we could reserve for a group lunch.

But I think we'd have to reimburse them for any broken furniture.

UPDATE: A check of their web site shows two rooms for smaller groups (up to 20). We'd have to contact them for pricing. If Terry and Teby sit at separate tables, we might get a break on the furniture deposit.

What about a drive around the lake and then a shot out to Truckee for lunch.  It might be a little slower there and maybe we could find a place to seat a large group.  There's a burger place there that was featured in Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

This follows the same route the Most Beautiful Bike Ride in America takes.

Hey all

I just drove around the south end of the Lake on my way back from Auburn. Had a great dinner with Terry and Rocklin Mike. Also spent a couple hours with Tony on Sat. It is great we are doing this event after Labor Day. The parked cars and traffic from Tahoe City to Camp Richardson are as heavy as I have ever seen it. Amazingly there are more boats in the Lake than I have ever seen as well. Tahoe is the only Lake in CA that has any water. So the trailer in crowd is huge. Meanwhile my boat is sitting in a warehouse in Carson City because my slip only has 2 feet of water in it. If you have a ski boat there is plenty of water.  Truckee is 30 minutes each way and it will be very busy as well so be forwarned. Those that want to do the drive around the Lake should split into smaller groups or take bag lunches there will be plenty of spots to picnic.

The crowds should be down by a third after labor day. Of course after y'all trash the place no one will visit again so be sure to have fun.

I love Truckee, Robert! Andie and I were there yesterday. Parking can be tough but doable. Bar America can handle a reasonably large group. Great little stores for the gals. The 89 to 267 loop is an great side trip but the Truckee River is not flowing down 89. No water leaving the lake this season.

Again, this is why we're planning multiple tour options. There's so many things to do! Maybe in the years to come we can plan a whole week!

Any wineries or breweries nearby?

I also looked up Squaw Valley Resort.  I'm not sure how the restaurant are for handling large groups but maybe a tour around the lake, a drive up to SVR, a gondola (tram) ride to the top, lunch, a winery or brewery stop stop if you guys have one, and the final drive back to the hotel.

I'll go with whatever the flow is, but I thought the plan was for the entire group to drive around the lake together.

When I lived on South Shore in Tahoe, there was a small but great breakfast place called the Red Hut Waffle shop and all the locals ate there.  Don't know if it is still there and I'm sure there are lots of breakfast options, but they made some incredible 4 egg omelets!

The Red Hut is still here and they have 3 locations now. The newest and largest is a couple of blocks from the Hotel at Ski Run and Hwy 50. 4 egg omelets are still the style.

On a Sat. morning it is usually a 10 to 15 minute wait, but that will probably be the case anywhere except maybe the hotel. I have not had breakfast there, but have eaten in their restaurant on the pier and it was great. The Sat. dinner is at the hotel.

The is a gondola up to 8500 ft at Heavenly located right in downtown S. Lake Tahoe. Terry was looking into the details, but their is a restaurant up top as well as zip lines, rope challenges, hiking, and a 4 wheel tour. They are putting in a summer luge run, but it is not operational as yet. This is how ski resorts will survive in a future will uncertain snow. Now that I said that I am sure we will get 40 feet next winter.

Yes it's still there. There's also Heidi's but last time I was there in June it wasn't as good as when I was a kid in the 70's/80's. O wait I still think I am a kid!

That makes 20 rooms! Good job, people!

Uh...Ted?

Just received a call from Paul Harford, a fixture on this site for many years. He was the owner of "Butch" a steroid-ladend Raby IV rolling piece of artwork. Paul also authored the Article "Are You Ready for a Speedster?", found at the top of most of the forum categories. Paul will be joining us on the Tour!

Several of the attendees this year are long time members from the very early days of Speedster Owners dot Com and brought a lot of "color" to this site. John "Leader" Alfenito, Dale Bates, Scott Sloan...awesome guys with stories to tell.

We'll have some fun..

I've not been able to attend any SOC "functions" for a couple years - been travelling since retirement and spending a lot of time in Paradise: cook Islands. Anyway, Now that I'm back home (Napa) for a few months, I found out about this Tahoe Cruze. One questions, though: Where and what time is the "Start" location on Friday, Sept. 11th?

Paul Watts

Paul - the link below is for the hotel in Auburn where everyone will meet and depart for Tahoe on Friday morning. Not sure what time group will meet in the morning.

Paul! Great news that you're attending the tour!

The plan is to meet at the Holiday Inn at 10:00 am, Friday 9/11. We'll depart at 10:30 and cruise over to Placerville, via 49 and 193 through Georgetown. We'll join up with Mitch & Co. for an early lunch before heading up to Tahoe via mucho bitchin' backroads.

Make sure to plan on coming to the kickoff barbecue at Casa de Nuckelhead on Thursday, 9/10. I'll send you my address via gmail.
