Perhaps better designated as the "Tour de Blue Ridge" this year as we're moving it to southwestern VA just to keep things fresh.  If we like this area we may alternate between Brevard, NC and there to keep it from getting stale.

Here are the particulars:

  • Arrival: Wednesday, 20 Sep.
  • Departure: Sunday, 24 Sep.
  • Base of operations: Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Claypool Hills, 180 CLAY DR , POUNDING MILL, VIRGINIA 24637, 855-516-1090, Mention "Speedster Owners Club" of course

Our resident radiologist himself (Phil Luebbert) is doing the route scouting and has three days of glorious driving set up (thanks Dr. Phil!)

So far I have confirmation of attendance from the following:

  1. Me (well DUH!)
  2. Kelly Arnold and possibly his son (Kelly has attended the last two with his silver C5 Z06 Corvette - he and I go back >50 years)
  3. Kelly Frazer, aka @El Frazoo
  4. Cory and Jeni Drake, @Jeni Drake
  5. Stan Galat, assuming his knees work this year, @Stan Galat
  6. Jack and Alice Crosby, @Jack Crosby
  7. Tom Boney, @Tom Boney
  8. Phil Luebbert, @550 Phil
  9. Layton Parker (owner and manager of the hotel we stay at in Brevard.  He's a real car guy (tracks a highly modified Corvette) who fits our group well)

Maybes are:

  1. Mike Warjas and Diane Croxford, @MikelB (sorry I accidentally left y'all out of the discussion thread)
  2. Carlos Galarza, @Carlos G
  3. Bob and Anna Garrett, @Panhandle Bob
  4. Alan &and Connie Merklin, @Alan Merklin
  5. Chris Dauerer, @Three Pedals (Chris), whose gorgeous Beck Speedster on the new chassis is almost complete.  I really want to see this one in action.

This should be a several hour shorter drive for those of you in the northeast while still being reasonable for those of us farther south.  You know ya wanna come!

Formerly 2006 Beck Speedster (Carlisle build car), 1964 Beck Super Coupe

Calm down, there, Lane.

you still have to get through ridiculous summer heat and Sand Gnat season before this event.

Remember that when you’re mowing your lawn…. In the heat.

Sand gnat, aka no-see-um, season is long past.  The heat is settling in now, though. 🥴

Found out today that the new BMW is out of production and awaiting shipment.  Those mountain roads should be be fuuuuuuuuun!
