I am busy pawing through the SOC knowledge base and the internet about VW tow bars. Thinking of how to do that w/ my JPS behind my Mazda 6, or possibly a Subaru Outback. The hitch on Mazda rated to 2,000 lb, so ought to work. My car has a large diam sway bar at the front, and I do not know if that will screw the pooch, as they say. In other words, I'm a bit unclear how the tow bar hooks on to the chassis, assuming it grabs the torsion bar tubes, but I'm not clear on this. Saw MUSBJIM's tutorial on the subject, and a bunch of great pictures, but attachment details to car not revealed. I'll keep looking. Maybe someone with direct experience could point me in the right direction. I could post pics of my front end, sway bar, torsion tubes, etc. if that would help. Any other gotchas in this enterprise that folks know about, and can share, will be helpful.
Saw a cool internet pic of a tow-frame attached to the bumper mounts, after the bumper itself had been removed, of course. That looked PFC, if you ask me. How sturdy are those mounts? would it really work properly, I dunno.
