I recently purchased a trans with the code AT16 (113 301 103L). I'm putting this into my 69 pan to drop 4th gear rpms.  Does it have the correct nose?--someone mentioned that it may need swapped out but PO says it should be good--do it once do it right? I run a 1835 with dual 40's. See pic.

I also saw this shroud (what is it is it efficient?) and being I would like to at least get some heat to pipe to defrost (have seat heaters and warm gear) would this be as good of a choice as a OEM shroud--still looking for a complete OEM shroud with flaps/stat etc.  I like the 356 round shroud for looks which I have now on mine but, there is no doghouse cooler box on mine and the heater outlets point straight out--probably not very efficient. . IF the nose cone on the new transaxle takes the same front mount as what fits on your pan and the shift selector rod looks like it comes out in the same place (it will be obvious if it doesn't) then you're golden. If the nose cone takes the newer mount (that Greg showed you above) you can take the old nose cone off and put it on the new trans.

MAKE SURE THE NEW TRANS IS IN NEUTRAL BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL THE OLD NOSE CONE- IF IT ISN'T YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS!!!

PS- You should be able to find an aftermarket round (36hp) shroud with the doghouse and heater fittings. I believe Scat still makes it with the internal directional vanes while Empi does not. If you're intent on fitting the thermostat/flaps assembly you'll have a little work to do as they don't come with the cut outs.

That's because it's one of the good EMPI products, and there are more every day as EMPI buys up smaller shops.

JayCee is now an EMPI division-- Jack is still running his machine shop as he has for the past 30 years. EMPI has a bad reputation, but they are making positive progress in some areas.

It's popular to bag on EMPI, but at this point-- without them, the hobby dies. We should be careful what we hope for. I've had as many problems with them as the next guy, but an improving EMPI floats all of our boats.

EMPI shrouds have vanes, and are virtually indistinguishable from Scat shrouds (to the extent that I'd bet money they come from the same mud hut in SE Asia).

Good to hear, Stan; I haven't had to shop for a shroud for a long time. And yeah, these days they probably do.
