transmissions

I am experincing difficulty with my trans. when driving i cannot engage 2nd. when at a stop, if i put the car in second it engages reverse. any help will be much appreciated. thanks

You need to fiddle with the plate between the shifter and the pan. The reverse lock function is a part of the plate and if the plate is placed wrong you could easely engage reverse instead of second.

Best investment for me yet: Haynes repair manual for vw bugs. This book has helped me with a lot of problems incl. this one which I had last summer.
