Transport Companies

May need to move a car from the west coast to Michigan. Any suggestions? Check out Passport, Reliable, and DAS. DAS is by far the cheapest. Any other suggestions?

Check their insurance; some carriers cover by WEIGHT instead of value. You may have to buy a rider policy to fully cover your car - such a policy usually costs 1% of the car's value. If you need it the shipper should be able to hook you up with an inusrance company.

Check out Hog Haulers. They have a web site. I think it is Hoghaulers.com or something close. They trucked my Speedster from L.A. to Southern Oregon a little over a month ago for $545 and had 1st class equipment. It was 700+ miles. They had a truck load of collector cars on the trailer so they obviously cater to car nuts, Bruce

I used Horseless Carriage to transport my car from JPS to Ohio. Let me know off line and I will be glad to give you the price. The service was very good - covered trailer, delivered in good shape and on time. Larry

I've used DAS 7 times in the past 15 years (NY to LA, LA to NY), never had a problem, except the cars needed a thorough washing after the trip.

I check out Hog Haulers and a couple others and DAS seems to be the more affordable (by FAR). I think my insurance company will put a rider on my policy for transport. I looks like I am all set.

Oh, ps, in case you're wondering DAS is shipping it for less than a $1000, enclosed, terminal to terminal, from the West coast to Detroit. I am happy with that...
