VS is in the body shop for a couple of months.  Doing a few things while it is apart.

the stock exhaust from VS is on the quiet side.

i have read that the Tri Mill exhaust has decent sound for an under 100 HP motor.

Tri Mil "Hotdog" Muffler, 1966-74 1300-1600cc Based Engines, Beetle and Karmann Ghia is a fantastic header and muffler in one unit, that exits the stock pea shooter cutouts! Healthy, throaty sound, flows as well as single quiet packs too! ACN Recommended! ACN Recommended! MADE IN THE USA! It has 5/16" Thick flanges, and uses 1 1/2" 16ga mild steel tubing to a 4" internally baffled formed muffler body, on a jig to ensure fitment with NO LEAKS for optimum quality and performance! This muffler is designed to work with stock heater boxes, or replacement J-pipes on stock or lowered cars. Be aware there are Chinese COPIES of this muffler being sold, we've seen those blow the exhaust packing out in 30 minutes of run time, obviously NOT of the same fitment nor quality as this Genuine Tri-Mil Version.

This is from Air Cooled. Net.

is this the correct muffler?

thanks

The A-1 Performance Muffler shop is located in Santa Ana (SoCal). The owner's name is Tiger and amazingly they do not have a website (that i know of). They have distributors scattered around.

Here's a link to a shop for your reference! These can be had with the typical dual-exhaust tip, of whatever configuration you specify! Best of luck with your project!

Have you looked at the Vintage Speed exhaust?

Nice vintage look, deeper sound, better performance, with standard access to valves and perfect fit... Not mods required.  Check out their web site, and several threads on this site.   I installed one on my 2013 VS a few weeks back. Easy install. Have been loving it.

I would send you the link to my previous post, with pictures but I'm on phone... Not easy to navigate site.  Can dig it up tomorrow.

Cheers,

Luis

Their web- http://www.vintagespeed.com.tw...austsystem-main.html

For replicas , the part number that i installed-  155-204-5200... I do have heater boxes and 1915cc engine.

The owner is great on email, and will build you anything you need... Just tell him you have a speedster, no heater boxes, a VS, and the size engine...

Will try to dig up my forum post... I asked the group for guidance and they helped me answer fit, quality, and opinion Qs...

Cheers

Thanks again gentlemen.  Lots of information .  No power gain from the Tri Mill, But a very low cost for additionsl noise.  No one spoke on its behalf.

Maybe a little hp gain from the A-1 or the Vintage Speed?

After listening to all, leaning towards the A -1.  Really comes down to buying domestic where possible.

Have a great holiday and thanks again.
