Tricks to removing nipple hubcaps

Is there anything particular i need to do to remove the nipple hubcap safely and without bending denting scratching of just overall screwing it up??

If your hubcaps have 2 little holes in the edge about 1/2" apart you need one of these:

Insert the ends in the holes and insert something through the loop from the center of the wheel toward the tire. Then pry against the tire to pull the hub cap off.

Can also make that tool out of a metal shirt hanger for dry cleaner......

Did it may a times with the Ghia.

It does have the two holes. Might try the hanger thing first if i can find one. Living in florida we usually only where tshirts! Thanks!

The lower bent rod in the tool kit is used with the U tool. The u tool is really stiff steel. A hunk of coat hanger might work a couple times. Yup - found that in FL a steel coat hanger will rust in a closet and mess up your Sunday T-shirt.

On a Speedster or a sport coat?

A hanger will work on the wide five caps held on by the spring clips, won't work as well on the four lug aftermarket nipple caps. I had no luck at all . . . but I rarely do.



I stumbled onto an extremely neat lug wrench with a hub cap remover built right in, never seen one before or since.
