Put a hinge on it and turn it into a semaphore.
I fritzed with my trim piece popping out like that for months. So, here in Texas we always turn to a 'longneck' when we get in a jam. Just apply a small bead across the Teflon clip and push it back in place or 1-2 min. Good as new and stays that way! Just be sure you buy the kind with a pointy nozzle. Good luck!
spin the clip upside down, it may still work.
Superglue comes in three or four consistencies. I use the Gorilla brand from Lowes or Home Depot, it is medium thickness, and stays where you put it. It will take a few minutes to set up. I would put some blue masking tape or vinyl(electrical) tape on either side of the clip to protect your paint.
Anyway, don't know the thickness or thin-ness of what John mentioned above. Just hoping it isn't the super-thin variety as that will run everywhere.
I would put tape down, put some glue on the clip, snap the trim down and hold for a while, or tape it down.
i used 3m trim adhesive (1/4" wide) to install my trim. worked awesome. maybe a little piece of that?
I have the same problem on a couple of locations in my car; will try the Super Glue trick.
For now I dabbed a little superglue on and it seems to be working fine. not sure what will happen when it's out bouncing around but seems ok.
