Greetings,
My Speedster is a Fiberfab International body built on a 1972 VW. It came without any rubber gasketing, latch or cable release for the trunk. I'd like to fix this - at least adding the gasketing as the trunk thumps up and down when I go over bumps too aggressively.
I'm sure one of you has worked out all the details here?
- What size/type of rubber tubing should I install? Would it go continuously all the way around or is spaced in strips left and right and top and bottom? Even as I type this, the second option sounds really ugly.
- How do I install the tubing? I've heard mention of gasket glue and "tape". Are they interchangeable? What is tape? The glue sounds more manageable.
- I've read that some of you installed rubber "offsets" on your trunks rather that tubing? Are offsets and tubing interchangeable?
- Anyone have a source for the tubing, hinge and cable release that would fit my body make? A link would be so helpful.
I saw the recent discussion on latches but I'm not sure that Fiat latch would work with a Fiberfab?
Thanks in advance,
Marshall
