I would be VERY careful buying a tubular frame unless I knew a lot about the builder and design.
Thunder Ranch in El Cajon CA was at the AHA show last year with a tube frame. Come to think of it, I think that McBurnie may have made it for the StreeBeasts people. Check your old Kit Car magazines for the article.
Tube frames are interesting and can even be exotic, but think about licensing and insuring before you get carried away. I am leagally licensed as a '71 VW and my insurance is for a "rebodied '71 VW". My wallet likes this. Also the re-enforced chassis is still so stiff that jacking up the rear corner lifts the the whole side of the car off the ground.
