Oooooooooo...........!!!!!!!!
Lovely!
My big Healey had all of the exhaust and muffler running under the driver's floor panel. It was like sitting on top of a furnace.
I can only imagine how hot that set-up gets!
Still, I would LOVE to drive it!
I’m pretty sure that was not uncommon in many cars of that era, Gordon. My ‘68 Firebird got the firewall and front floor so hot it discolored the blue shag carpet I had glued down (after stripping all the insulation out). It was like sitting in a roasting pan in the summer.
I’ll bet he’s got heat shields. The car looks pretty well thought out.
There are a few cars that would lead me to part ways with my speedster (of similar price). And a big Healey is one of them. While not especially fond of the MKIII, this one looks fun to drive in a pants on fire manner. (or trousers)
One of my favourites from the most recent Goodwood festival...
Update: Green car was bid to $40k; now listed at $85k.

Those guys drive a wet track like second nature. My kid thinks there's no school when there's the off chance it rains.
Thanks for sharing such a great video.

Apparently it was the wettest Goodwood in years. It certainly didn't slow the fast guys down
@550aus I have been told the biggest difference between the Monterey Historics and Goodwood is the driving style. Monterey are gentleman racers, allowing drivers to pass. Goodwood are to-the-core race car drivers. They don't care if their cars are 1 of 1 cars valued at $12mil. On the track, they are there to win.....at all cost.
That said, one year at Velocity I watched two 250 GTO's go around the track. One driver drove it like a $70mil car. The other?......like it was a $2000 Toyota. Which essentially boils down to net worth. The one who drove the snot out of the 250 GTO most likely had a few more billion dollars in the bank than the other driver.
I’m kind of bummed out. I found out today SVRA is having a party this weekend at Spring Hill down by Las Vegas. And it’s raining here today. (First “fall” weather we’ve had all fall!)
If I’d have found out abt it Monday I would have loaded up the Dutch Star for its maiden cruise. As it was, I had to break down and put the top up on the 968 for the first time since May.
For the second time this “summer” (it was 83° on Monday) I beat Mother Nature by mere minutes, although this time I was prepared!

As much as it makes me wince sometimes, it's fantastic seeing some of these almost priceless cars being driven on the limit. Hats off to the owners who let top level drivers race them on the edge.
Here's another favourite, although it's from a year or three back. I think it's Adrian Newey's GT40
